The Imaging Department at St. Luke's Warren Campus is looking for a Part-time X-Ray Technologist to join our dynamic team at our Hillcrest Orthopedic Imaging Office located in Phillipsburg NJ! The schedule for this position is Wednesday 8:30am-3:00pm / Thursday 8:30am-3:00pm / Friday 8:00am-12:00pm with the ability to pick up hours at our other locations. In addition, this position affords candidates to cross-train in another advanced modality if interested. The Radiology Technologist performs diagnostic radiographic procedures adhering to the principle of radiation protection, according to local, state and federal standards. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Properly identifies patient and exam and performs diagnostic radiographic services on patients with the maximum amount of care, while evaluating the technical quality Responsible for successful technical continuity of care and education of radiological procedures to patients Demonstrates competency in the knowledge of the RIS/HIS modules appropriate to their job responsibilities Assists in gathering and recording data for Radiology Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement program Assumes responsibility for assigned area, making sure all equipment and supplies necessary for that area are readily available for use Accurately adheres to downtime procedures to assure appropriate information is available resulting in excellent continuity of care for patients Maintains responsibility for own professional development through active participation in in-services and/or continuing education programs and maintaining personal education binder Provides educational information to the patient regarding their examination Annual peer review of films meets department standards. The scope of practice includes those procedures, acts and processes and permitted by law, for which the individual has received education and clinical experience, has demonstrated competency, and has completed the appropriate ARRT certification(s) which is the standard of practice in radiology. The Radiologic Technologist performs radiographic procedures , producing images for the interpretation by, or at the request of a licensed independent practitioner. Radiographers must demonstrate an understanding of the human anatomy, physiology, pathology and medical terminology. Radiographers must maintain a high degree of accuracy in radiographic positioning and exposure technique. They must maintain knowledge of radiation protection and safety. Radiographers must remain sensitive to the physical , cultural and emotional needs of the patient through good communication, patient assessment, patient monitoring and patient care skills. Radiographers actively participate in a dual role while working in the clinical environment. Duties include but are not limited to patient registration, scheduling, clerical support, and customer service. Basic medical assistant duties may be performed by a radiologic technologist after training and competency are demonstrated. Medical assistant duties may include triaging patients under the direction and supervision of the provider. This includes functions such as obtaining height and weight, vital signs, and specific point of care testing.
