The Welder is responsible for operating a multitude of welding equipment working primarily on aluminum, steel and galvanneal requiring a high grade of skill.

The Nuts and Bolts:
Wiring for trucks from front to rear lights, camera sensors, and any other custom requests.
Welding metals according to customer or employer requirements.

Ensuring high safety measures while working such as donning protective gear for the face and body.
Operating heavy equipment such as industrial saws.
Examining the equipment after welding and advising maintenance of defects.
Planning/setting of welding operations before beginning.
Reading blueprints and weld according to the plan.
Training junior and entry level welders.
Senior welders will supervise welding operations of junior welders.
Required Credentials:
Must be able to pass a weld test
Must be proficient in three or more of the welding materials: mild steel, galvineel, carbon steel, aluminum, stainless steel
Must have 6 years of welding experience or more
Basic math, tape measurement and computer skills

Machine Operator
Manually program small piece parts, and set up and operate machines
Identify all finished pieces and aside to next work center, storage or queue area
Identify and aside excess stock to the appropriate storage locations
Sand, grind, wash or shot blast plate steel, structural or purchased parts to prepare them for entry to the manufacturing areas
Welder
Weld components with appropriate techniques and repair if defective
Inspect welding processes, materials, etc. for conformance to design criteria, applicable specifications, and inspection procedures
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Operate overhead and jib cranes, man lifts, fork trucks and miscellaneous other tools
Machine Operator:
Engine lathe, radial drill press, band saw, press brake, shear, wheelabrator, grinders, hydraulic punch, pipe and rod threaders, numerical control Plasma-Cutter, Numerical Control Machining Center, numerical control saw, measuring tools such as tapes; calipers, and micrometers, thread gages, jig, dies, fixtures
Welder:
Submerged Arc (SAW), Stick Welding (SMAW), MIG Welding (GMAW), Oxyacetylene Torches, Plasma Cutting, Air Arc Gouging, Brazing, Stud Welding, and TIG (GTAW) equipment. Also, Welding Positioners & Fixtures, Portable Grinders, and Leak Test Equipment
Work with various size plate and sheets steels, bar and round stocks, miscellaneous structural steels, hot, cold alloyed and stainless steels, steel and casting pieces, purchased components, copper, copper alloys, Silphos, flux grinding discs, anti-spatter, welding wire, aluminum and others

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Performs all tasks in a safe and responsible manner
Read and comprehend welding instructions and structural drawings
Verifies correct quantity and quality of parts welded
Layout stitch welds; locations of weld and weld size for welders
Work from drawings, patterns, fixtures and specifications
Layout and operate both fuel gas and plasma hand torches for fitting purposes
Move material using a forklift and crane according to standard operating procedure, safety regulations and practices
Assist with the welding of a Weldments
Perform cleaning, assembly, and straightening operations as directed by Supervision
May be required to perform the following welding processes: GMAW, Flux, Sub Arc, etc.
Ability to comply with all quality policies, specifications and instructions
Ability to come to work on a consistent basis
Requirements
Education and Experience
A minimum of two years (2) experience as an open table Fitter
High School diploma or equivalent preferred
Heavy manufacturing in a job shop environment a plus
Physical Demands
Ability to move or transfer products with an overhead crane and forklift. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. when required. While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Fitter/Fabricator - 1st shift
Welder Job 7 miles from Waukesha
Read and interpret blueprints and/or drawings to determine the specific welding requirements.
Lay out, position, align, and fit components together according to blueprints, BOM, written, and verbal instructions.
Checks parts for accuracy, clearance and fit.
Bolt, clamp, and tack-weld parts to secure in position for final welding, MIG.
Select equipment and plan layout of assembly for welding.
Setup welding machines based on the job at hand.
Use a variety of hand and power tools as needed.
Inspect items as instructed and provide feedback to management to ensure any quality defects can be avoided in the future.
Maintain a clean work area, returning equipment and tools at the end of the day.
Assist other departments and functions as needed.
