RESPONSIBILITIES
Grind barge & boat repair areas, internal compartments & cargo tanks, and external surface areas in preparation for welding.
Weld barge & boat repair areas, internal compartments & cargo tanks, external surface areas, and specialty components & areas with the required number of passes to achieve full penetration welds.
Operate welding & grinding equipment, blowers, hoses, etc., to accomplish weld & repair duties.
Must pass a welding test to obtain internal skill classification.

NATURE AND SCOPE:
The use of all available welding processes such as shielded metal arc, gas metal arc, flux cored arc and stud welding. Perform setup incidental for welding of pipe material. Weld all gauges and thickness of pipe materials where welded area may be subject to extreme stress and where care must be taken to prevent leaks and cracks. Weld flat, vertical or overhead welds in difficult positions and areas of difficult access. Preheat piping materials as may be necessary in order to minimize quality problems. Perform surface preparations of pipe materials such as cleaning, sanding, grinding and some assembly of parts, as well as, clean welds including the cutting and repairing of unacceptable welds. Must also perform arc gouging. Perform tack-welding functions as required. Welds shall be welded to ASME Section IX and ANSI/ASME B31.3 code unless otherwise specified. Must weld any size pipe, as well as, do structural welding, as needed utilizing the same welding procedures.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Structural * Capable of certifying on multi-process pipe being proficient in SMAW, GTAW and GMAW welding processes. * May require x-ray qualities. * Lays out, aligns and welds fabricated, cast and forged components to assemble structural forms such as machinery frames, tanks, pressure vessels, furnace shells, buildings and pipe, according to blueprints and metallurgy.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Selects type and size of pipe or other related materials and equipment according to specifications.
* Selects equipment and plans layouts, assembly, and welding, applying knowledge of geometry, physical properties of metal machining, weld shrinkage and welding techniques.
* May be required to use Gas-Metal Arc, Flux-Cored Arc, Gas-Tungsten Arc, Submerged Arc, or Shielded Metal Arc welding processes.
* Lays out, positions, aligns and fits components together in various body positions.
* Bolts, clamps and welds together metal components of products such as piping systems, plate, pipe and tube or structural shapes, using arc and arc gas welding equipment. May weld in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead position.
* May tack weld assemblies together.
* Connects cable from welding unit to obtain amperage, voltage, slope and pulse as specified by procedure or supervisor.
* Obtains specified electrode and inserts electrode into portable holder or threads consumable electrode wire through portable welding gun.
* Starts power supply to produce electric current.
* Strikes arc which generates heat to melt and deposit metal from electrode to work piece and join edges of work piece.
* Manually guides electrode or gun along weld-line, maintaining length of arc and speed and movement to form specified depth of fusion and bead, as judged from color of metal, sound of weld, and size of molten puddle.
* May manually apply filler rod to supply weld metal.
* May clean or degrease weld joint or workplace, using wire brush, portable grinder, or chemical bath.
* May repair broken or cracked parts and fill holes.
* May remove excess weld, defective weld material, slag and spatter, using carbon arc gouge, hand scrapper, grinder or power chipper.
* May preheat work piece, using hand torch or heating furnace.
* May cut metal plates or structural shapes.
* Examines weld for bead size and other specifications.
* Loads, transports and unloads material, tools, equipment and supplies.
* May assist in lifting, positioning and securing of materials and work pieces during installation.

POSITION OVERVIEW:
In the role of Part-Time Field Welder Tester, you will be responsible for delivering welder test witnessing services to clients, including applicants and certified individuals adhering to welding standards. These services extend to unions and accredited testing centers. Your primary duties will involve conducting welder testing and evaluations for potential employee candidates, while also supporting the maintenance of relevant quality logs and sheets as a welding Auditor.
Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00AM - 12:00PM

POSITION OBJECTIVE:
Using TurboFab welding procedures, this position must be capable of performing to the welding requirements specified for acceptable welds. Must be proficient in the welding of pipe assemblies, within protected and open areas.
NATURE AND SCOPE:
The use of all available welding processes such as shielded metal arc, gas metal arc, flux cored arc and stud welding. Perform setup incidental for welding of pipe material. Weld all gauges and thickness of pipe materials where welded area may be subject to extreme stress and where care must be taken to prevent leaks and cracks. Weld flat, vertical or overhead welds in difficult positions and areas of difficult access. Preheat piping materials as may be necessary in order to minimize quality problems. Perform surface preparations of pipe materials such as cleaning, sanding, grinding and some assembly of parts, as well as, clean welds including the cutting and repairing of unacceptable welds. Must also perform arc gouging. Perform tack-welding functions as required. Welds shall be welded to ASME Section IX and ANSI/ASME B31.3 code unless otherwise specified. Must weld any size pipe, as well as, do structural welding, as needed utilizing the same welding procedures.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1.Comply with all of TurboFab's Environmental, Health and Safety Programs, Regulations and Guidelines.
2.Must keep all areas clean and orderly; and comply with TurboFab's housekeeping procedures.
3.Check own work for conformance to welding procedure and specifications.
4.Use all necessary equipment, tools and materials required to perform assigned work.
5.Ensure that the welding procedures have been followed and quality has not been compromised.
6.Clean welds including the cutting and repairing of unacceptable welds.
7.Qualified to fully understand and adjust welding machine settings as required by welding procedure.

KNOWLEDGE:
* This position is for well-experienced employees with three or more years of experience and requires minimal supervision.
* Pass and maintain all required welding qualification tests.
* Fully able to read or understand welding procedures.
* Must be able to climb and work from ladders and scaffolds.
* Must exhibit the skills and willingness to perform assigned tasks in a fully competent manner.
* Qualified to weld and pass performance test on Heliarc (Tig) 2"; 4" stick (Tig); 4" Flux Core (Semi auto gun Feeds); 6" submerged arc (Tig Bead & Hot-pass, Flux Core filler, Fill &Cap); Mig, Bead root, and Hot-pass; plus any other new processes established.
* Qualified to visually inspect their welds for acceptability.
* Must have full understanding of welding symbols as per AWS.
* Must be available to work 1st shift or 2nd shift.
* Ability to work overtime to support production demands
