ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Operate Manual Welder to TIG weld components safely according to specifications (aluminum, stainless steel, cast, and cupronickel).
Follow weld instructions and complete projects based on blueprints
Understand and execute verbal instructions from Manufacturing leadership regarding job orders to determine product specifications.
Perform tack-weld functions to join metal work pieces at specified distances.
Inspect and record quality requirements of finished work pieces.
Use all safety devices/tools to ensure safe operation of welding processes.
Ensure work area is kept clean and organized at all times.
Knowledge, understanding, and compliance with Company policies and procedures.
Participate in cross-training throughout manufacturing facility. Dependent upon company need, may be posted in alternate work assignment.
All other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) or technical school diploma or equivalent in relevant work experience preferred
3+ years related experience and/or training required
Ability to successfully pass weld test
Proficient in accurate use of micrometers, calipers, and other measuring tools
Ability to read and work to set tolerances and work from blueprints
Ability to set-up and operate Welding machine
Mechanically inclined and possess strong degree of attention to detail
Basic mathematical skills required to set-up and operate welding process
Ability to be cross-trained throughout manufacturing facility
Ability to work in a team fostered environment
Ability to work overtime and weekends when needed

The above descriptions of the RC13 levels for each skill group within the new classification list a group of basic skills, which are required for entry into the classification, followed by another group referred to as "additional." Although not all members of the group will be able to perform all of the additional skills, at least at first, everyone is required to know some of them and to learn the others as time permits and production/customer needs require.
All members of the group will follow all current standard operating procedures. All members are responsible for the quality of their workmanship and must follow all safety and housekeeping procedures and work in a safe manner at all times. All members of the group will train others in the various functions.
Light grinding operations are included in the layout welder-fitter job. Grinding that may be required of all members of the class in any department include:
Corrective grinding as required before tacking or welding a joint. Responsibility for the correct preparation of the joint is assumed by the act of welding.
Backgrinding of tack welds. Interpass cleaning.
Backgrinding of nozzles or patches after backgouging or cutting out.
Adjustment of bevels or taper by cutting and/or grinding as needed for correct fit-up in head set-up and jacket set-up areas, or in head or shell nozzle or patch set-up.
Prep grinding of torch cut surfaces prior to welding or tacking components.
Use of grinder to remove rust, scale, spatter, flux, or other contaminants from surfaces.

Any and all grinding necessary in the process of repairing defective or cosmetically substandard work of the welder's own making.

I. Job Summary
Installs, services, and repairs refuse compactors at the customer's location.
II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned.
Must have general welding, electrical and hydraulic skills and must be able to fabricate metal on site as needed; must also be able to read electrical and hydraulic schematics.
Performs routinely scheduled services to the refuse compactor at the customer's locations. Inspects, greases, changes/filters hydraulic oil, and changes filters on the refuse compactors. Adds hydraulic oil as needed.
Checks the units for stress cracks and other safety hazards.
Checks the electrical connections, replaces the circuits, solenoids and pressure switches and repairs wiring as needed.
Operates the units, checks the pressure with a gauge and adjusts the cycle speed as needed.
Installs and replaces total units.
Uses a hammer drill to anchor the units and mount the guard rails.
Fabricates hopper, shoots, platforms, steps and handrails.
Tests, diagnoses and repairs hydraulic hoses and systems.
Performs service calls to make site repairs.
Repairs products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling parts using a cutting torch, porta-power, sledge hammer, and hand tools.
Maneuvers the service truck safely to and from the service location.
Instructs site personnel on the proper operational procedures and has a safety standard sheet signed by the site supervisor.

Structural Welder Technician

Summary of Position: Structural Field Welders responsibilities involve performing proper lay out, fit up of steel plate, beams and various metal components. Must be able to use basic hand tools including grinders, torches, saws to ensure proper fit up of metal components. The Field Welder must possess a basic understanding of mathematics, blueprint reading, as well as general welding knowledge. Welders must be comfortable working from heights to include welding out of position for extended periods of time. Individuals must be able to pass 3G & 4G SMAW welding test on 1" plate after hire.
Duties & Responsibilities:
* Works at heights for extended periods of time (Must pass Climbing and Climber Rescue tests to earn Certifications)
* Welds in horizontal, vertical and overhead positions
* Ensures safety standards are met at all times
* Complete work and maintain high quality standards
* Preps steel for welding and fitment
* Selects proper size and type of welding electrodes to ensure penetration and complete fusion of base and filler metals
Competencies/ Qualifications:
* Working knowledge of different metals and alloys commonly used.
* Must have the mechanical and technical knowledge and skill to perform operator maintenance on all equipment pertinent to the position.
* Knowledge of or ability to learn Patriot Towers, Inc. acquisition procedures and practices.
* Must take and follow detailed instructions
* Ability to understand basic and intermediate steel fabrication and installation.
Education/ Experience:
* High School Diploma / GED
* 1-3 Years related experience
* Certified Welder 3G & 4G
* OSHA 10hr Certification (company will provide)
Basic Abilities:
* Basic math, reading, writing and computer skills
* Must be able to use common sense and solve problems independently
Physical Demands:
* Must be able to lift and or move up to 50lbs independently. Must be able to lift and or move up to 100lbs with help
* Must be able to stand, crawl, crouch, reach and walk for extended periods of time
* Must be able to climb and descend a ladder without help
* Ability to climb to heights greater than 500ft
Other:
* Must have and maintain a clean driver's license, CDL preferred
* Must be able to travel overnight during the week and weekends
