Job Overview: The Certified Welder is responsible for performing welding on facility items and equipment. Collective Bargaining Agreement language applies to this position. Responsibilities: • Performs welding certification samples per Roots specifications, which meet all inspection requirements. • Performs various types of welding, brazing, flame hardening, and torch heating and cutting on production and repair services. Performs welding on Roots facility items and equipment, where certification is required. Qualifies on and maintains Roots brazing certifications. • Performs fitting and weld prep operations, as directed, on materials to be joined. Operates a hydraulic press to form centrifugal blades. Fits and adjusts forming dies in the press and modifies, as required, to ensure that blades meet design specifications. • Positions all work and grinds and cleans their own weldments. Loads, unloads, and operates a stress-relieving furnace. • Verifies acceptability of all production components, including but not limited to impellers and other production components and repair work up to final inspection; Uses liquid and dry Magnaflux equipment and liquid penetrant. • Operates an electric pot to prepare Babbitt and pour Babbitt pounders. Operates a plasma-arc power supply (hand-held cutter) and plasma-arc power supply/shape cutter unit to cut out various pieces from plate stock or other material needed to perform job assignments. • Welder adheres to Roots welding procedures regarding production welding certification requirements and identifies metal stamp or process-sheet sign off on all production welding with certification requirements. • Safely operates a gas or battery-powered forklift truck, battery-powered transporter, or crane equipped with a pendant or radio control to transport or position materials, parts, supplies, units, etc. Selects proper crane rigging devices for use and assists where the size or shape of load requires. Charges batteries and exchanges propane tanks to maintain equipment usability. • Performs incidental duties of the classification, as required. Observes plant rules and safe working practices. • Maintain a clean and orderly work area by picking up and discarding or returning to the proper location of all welding supplies, materials, parts, and other similar items used in the welding process. Broom sweeps the welding areas, as required. Job Overview:
The Certified Welder is responsible for performing welding on facility items and equipment. Collective Bargaining Agreement language applies to this position.
Responsibilities:
• Performs welding certification samples per Roots specifications, which meet all inspection requirements.
• Performs various types of welding, brazing, flame hardening, and torch heating and cutting on production and repair services. Performs welding on Roots facility items and equipment, where certification is required. Qualifies on and maintains Roots brazing certifications.
• Performs fitting and weld prep operations, as directed, on materials to be joined. Operates a hydraulic press to form centrifugal blades. Fits and adjusts forming dies in the press and modifies, as required, to ensure that blades meet design specifications.
• Positions all work and grinds and cleans their own weldments. Loads, unloads, and operates a stress-relieving furnace.
• Verifies acceptability of all production components, including but not limited to impellers and other production components and repair work up to final inspection; Uses liquid and dry Magnaflux equipment and liquid penetrant.
• Operates an electric pot to prepare Babbitt and pour Babbitt pounders. Operates a plasma-arc power supply (hand-held cutter) and plasma-arc power supply/shape cutter unit to cut out various pieces from plate stock or other material needed to perform job assignments.
Welder adheres to Roots welding procedures regarding production welding certification requirements and identifies metal stamp or process-sheet sign off on all production welding with certification requirements.
• Safely operates a gas or battery-powered forklift truck, battery-powered transporter, or crane equipped with a pendant or radio control to transport or position materials, parts, supplies, units, etc. Selects proper crane rigging devices for use and assists where the size or shape of load requires. Charges batteries and exchanges propane tanks to maintain equipment usability.
• Performs incidental duties of the classification, as required. Observes plant rules and safe working practices.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area by picking up and discarding or returning to the proper location of all welding supplies, materials, parts, and other similar items used in the welding process. Broom sweeps the welding areas, as required.
Requirements:
• 2+ Years of experience with Tig, Mig and Stick Welding
Core Competencies:
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize effectively
• Open to any shift, holidays, weekends, and overtime
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs
Preferences:
• High School Diploma or GED
• Overhead Crane and Forklift Expereince is preferred
