Fluent in understanding job specific WPS / PQRs and capable of setting machine up for performance in all positions to certified testing criteria.
Analyze blue prints for weld insignia and the application thereof to assembly components on piping and structural systems.
The ability to identify correctly, measured, hand dressed, cut and fit: prepare metal surfaces for welding process to be completed per job specific requirements.
Capable of visual observation of pre and post-welded surfaces; and the interpretation of fulfilled job requirements with micrometer, caliper and other precision measuring instruments.
Technically proficient in the interpretation of insufficient weld criteria and knowledge to efficiently blend to repair.

**Essential Functions & Responsibilities (definition of job):**
+ Weld various parts and components as required by the department.
+ Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
+ Perform manual and automated TIG welding on sheet metal and small diameter tubular parts.
+ Weld different metals, including carbon steel, stainless steel, nickel-based alloys, and aluminum.
+ Set up welding machines and make adjustments according to work instructions and weld schedules.
+ Prepare parts for welding using work instructions and blueprints.
+ Work to tight tolerances to meet dimensional requirements before and after welding, using specific methods, fixtures, and gauges.
+ Collaborate with ME/Weld Engineers to resolve weld-related issues.
+ Acquire certifications and perform special process inspections, such as weld/macro, solder, dimensional, and leak tests.
+ Perform additional departmental duties, including media blasting, prepping, drilling, and disassembly of products.
+ Demonstrate proficient mechanical aptitude and use various hand tools and measuring devices, such as calipers, dial indicators, and borescopes.
+ Possess basic computer, math, and verbal and written communication skills.

+ Ability to frequently lift, carry, push and/or pull up to 25 lbs. with or without reasonable accommodations.
+ High School diploma or GED
+ Subject to random drug and alcohol testing in accordance with DOT and FAA regulations as required.
+ Technical/Vocational training in TIG welding and/or 3 years TIG welding experience
**Desired Qualifications**
+ Degree/certificate in Weld Technology/Metallurgy
+ Aerospace/Aircraft welding background
+ Able to work flexible hours/overtime as needed.

Full Job Description
The Industrial Certified Fabricator/Welder sets up and operates manually controlled machines in skilled precision and bench work in the fabrication, maintenance, repair and alteration of machinery, machine parts, tools, and equipment.
Responsibilities:
Machinist and Maintenance
Uses precision tools, machinery, and equipment such as lathe, vertical milling machine, drill press, hydraulic press, chop saw, band saw and a variety of cutting and welding equipment such as TIG, MIG and Oxy-Acetylene.
Fabricates and shapes parts such as tools and machine parts out of metal, plastics, and composites
Properly and safely selects, aligns, secures, and removes holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories and materials onto machines
Positioning, aligning, fitting, and welding parts for the formation of subunits or complete units using jigs, hand tools, and welding torches.
Experience in stick welding, oxygen/acetylene torch use along with mig/tig experience.
Recognizes, deploys, and properly uses inserts, fixtures, and tooling.
Repairs manufacturing, packaging and material handling equipment when needed.
Providing detailed instructions, specifications, drawings or documentation to explain others about how the components are to be constructed, modified, maintained, assembled, or fabricated.
Studying blueprints and engineering drawings to determine project task sequences and requirements.
Assists in maintaining an acceptable level of housekeeping.
Communications
Assists in maintaining an accurate inventory and maintenance logs through activities such as: proper reporting of parts inventory usage, tracking of time worked on E-maintenance, minimizing waste, reporting any spills or unique situations that adversely impact operations.
Maintain various production logs to record downtime/issues which arise during assignment.
Completes all required paperwork (timesheets, quality sheets,) accurately
Safety
Works in a safe manner following all departmental and plant safety rules. Responsible for immediately reporting any unsafe work conditions to work leader, supervisor, or management.
Other Duties
Actively participates in various committees/teams to improve processes. Works in various other areas as required by business needs.
Qualifications
Specialty Training Beyond High School
Machinist Journeymen's status required
Journeymen's Certification/License
3-5 years of experience in manual machine shop equipment such as mill and lathe.
Previous experience with workshop and power tools related to mechanical work recommended
Previous experience with forklift, scissor lift and/or man lift recommended
Exposed to high voltage electricity and excessive heat
Ability to push, pull, or lift heavy objects and/or machine parts with or without assistance
Work Environment & Physical Responsibilities:
Duties are performed in a loud production setting subject to extreme temperatures. Some duties may be required to be performed outside. Comfortable with repetitive movement, kneeling, crouching and stooping. Requires using hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools or controls. Requires lifting up to 50 pounds while bending, twisting and/or standing.
