We are seeking a highly skilled Structural Welder to assist in the new construction of Naval aircraft carriers and submarines. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in pulse arc welding and be proficient in various welding processes. This position requires the ability to perform in physically demanding environments, such as shipboards and sub-assemblies.
**Responsibilities**
+ Perform multi-pass, all-position fillet and butt welds using GMAW, FCAW, and GMAW-P processes.
+ Adhere to OSHA regulations relevant to the shipbuilding industry.
+ Execute Air Carbon Arc Gouging.
+ Use fillet and butt weld gauges accurately.
+ Pass all position, multi-pass butt weld, and welder qualification tests.
**Essential Skills**
+ Four years of experience as a first-class welder.
+ Proficiency in SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, and GMAW-P welding processes.
+ Experience working in physically demanding environments including shipboards and sub-assemblies.

Inspects grooves, angles, gap allowances, and related aspects of assembly to ensure conformance to specifications, using micrometer, caliper, and related precision measuring instruments.
Understands how changes to the preparation of the tube/material will change the inputs required for welding.
Performs work and troubleshooting requiring knowledge of the welding properties of various types of metals, welding rods, welding heats, stress relief, allowances for fit-up and machining, and the effect of shrinkage, warpage and expansion
Achieve, maintain, and actively perform certified orbital and certified manual (hand) OSS welding procedures inspected according to the relevant quality program (typically ultrasonic and/or radiographic, die penetrant and bend testing).
Performs assembly of medium complexity components - umbilical terminations and distribution equipment.
Actively participate on and strictly follow standards of the Lean Manufacturing Program & Health, Safety, Security, and Environment programs.

POSITION SUMMARY

REQUIREMENTS
Education/ Experience: High school diploma or GED equivalence plus three to five years of pipe welding experience desired. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Requires working knowledge of equipment, work processes, and techniques used in measuring fitting and welding steel. Requires x-ray pipe welding experience with the ability to weld pipe in all positions and mirror weld. Requires knowledge of welding symbols, ship terminology, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and American Bureau of Shipbuilding (ABS) standards. Must pass SMAW 6G Pipe Test to become ABS Certified.
Skills: Ability to read and comprehend written, verbal, or diagram forms or plans. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out written and verbal instructions.
