General Job Description Under the direction of the Welding Group Leader or Supervisor, the Welder works from customer drawings and a traveler to fabricate and weld components to produce the highest quality products at the lowest cost, while meeting departmental performance standards, customer specifications and delivery requirements, in accordance with company policies and procedures. A Class A Welder is capable of performing all aspects of welding. Can weld any type of project while consistently meeting or exceeding cycle times. Requires little to no supervisor and has the ability to interpret blueprints and understands weld symbols at an advanced level. Adds, subtracts, multiplies, and divides feet, inches, fractions, and decimals. Uses table to convert fractions to decimals and decimals to fractions. * Uses plasma torch and oxy-fuel torch to cut steel. Uses jigs made at Sabre/Texas for laying out vang slots and for cutting holes in shafts for inserting hand hole rims, arm mounting simplex, couplings, and other small parts. Wear protective goggles or welding hood to protect eyes from harmful rays. * Moves around round tube or formed shaft as necessary to get into proper position to accurately measure and assemble components described above including standing on elevated platform when necessitated by the size of the shafts. * Uses motorized grinders, motorized buffers, stone grinders, and drills to help assemble pole assembly according to prescribed specifications, codes and drawing. Wears protective face shield and safety glasses to protect eyes and face. * Adjusts welding machine to achieve desired results within parameters of established welding procedures. Changes tips, ceramic cups, and electrodes in plasma torch as needed to achieve desired cutting results. * Finish weld various products of the unit to keep the product moving through the large pole department in a timely manner. Reads and interprets weld symbols. * Uses oxy-fuel torch to preheat parts prior to welding. Read codes and specifications to determine proper temperature and uses instruments provided to measure temperature. * Uses chipping hammer, wire brush, motorized grinder, and motorized wire brush at various times to clean welded areas. * Uses pneumatic drills and magnetic drills to drill and ream various sizes holes in poles as required by the drawing. * Wears protective equipment, including safety glasses, insulated welding gloves, welding cap, leather sleeves, and/or cape, and welding hood for protection against hot metal, arc rays, grinding debris, and other potentially. * Performs visual inspecting and identifies material discrepancies to assure welds have been completed satisfactorily in compliance with applicable drawings and specifications. Uses a weld gauge to measure weld size. * When called for by the drawings and specifications, must produce full-penetration welds as defined by American Welding Society code. Uses air-arc gouger to remove weld defects, and rewelds to meet specifications. * Uses overhead crane to load finished poles into bolsters for transportation out of the pole assembly area. * Welds other products in other areas, using either Flux-Cored Arc Welding or Gas Metal Arc Welding process. * Assist and instructs other welders and fitters when needed to overcome deficiencies in quality and/or productivity. We are looking to add welders to a growing facility in Arlington - 76010 Pay - $20.50/hr - $22/hr with weekly pay Expected hours - 40-45 weekly We are seeking a skilled and experienced Welder to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for welding metal components using a variety of welding techniques. The role requires attention to detail, adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to work with different materials and in various environments. The Welder will work closely with other team members to ensure that high-quality, safe, and accurate welded structures and components are produced. Key Responsibilities: Weld metal parts using TIG, MIG, or other welding processes, ensuring adherence to specifications and blueprints. Inspect welded components for quality and integrity. Measure and cut metal pieces to size as required for specific jobs. Set up and operate welding equipment, including adjusting settings for different materials. Maintain a clean and organized work environment. Follow all safety guidelines and wear appropriate protective gear. Work with team members to complete projects on time and within budget. Troubleshoot and repair welds when needed. Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of welding equipment. Qualifications: Proven experience as a Welder (3 - 5 years). High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in welding is a plus. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings. Proficient in various welding techniques such as TIG and MIG welding. Strong attention to detail and precision. Ability to work independently or in a team. Knowledge of safety protocols and use of protective equipment. Physical strength and stamina to handle heavy materials and work in challenging environments. Preferred Skills: Certification from a recognized welding association (e.g., AWS, ASME). Experience with welding in different industries such as construction, automotive, or manufacturing. Ability to operate power tools and cutting equipment. Work Environment: Will be required to work in a variety of environments, including outdoors, workshops, or factories.
