Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Read aerospace engineering blueprints and work with tight tolerances, and complicated setups. Fabricate, weld, and manufacture conformal anode fixtures for use in plating operations. Cut, position, and clamp together components of fabricated metal products preparatory to welding. Cut and Position pieces to be welded into jigs, holding fixtures, guides, and steps using measuring instruments and hand tools. Lay out and mark points on parts or subassemblies using ruler, square, scribe, templates, and calipers. Weld metal parts together, using both gas welding, soldering, and any combination of MIG and TIG processes. Fabrication of large-scale plating tanks using MIG welding Stainless Steel sheets and frame structure. Perform related tasks such as oxy-acetylene or plasma cutting and grinding. Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures. Work overtime as needed to meet production demands. Must be able to lift to 50 pounds. Minimum Qualifications Completion of an approved 4-year, 8,000+ hour accredited apprenticeship program or four years previous experience in tig, arc, acetylene welding, brazing and silver soldering or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience) required. The position also requires extensive experience in radial line, parallel, and triangulation layout procedures. Demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills are also required. Incumbents must have an understanding of Industrial Standards to determine strength and safety requirements. A two-hour comprehensive examination will be scheduled for evaluation of applicants. This position is not responsible for providing patient care.
