Job Description:
Works under the direction of the Welding Superintendent, Lead Welder, and/or others assigned by Moretrench management.
Practices and adheres to requirements of applicable welding procedures.
Practices and adheres to safe operating protocols and procedures on jobsites according to OSHA, MSHA, ANSI, and Moretrench welding safety protocols and requirements.
Inspects all assigned equipment for proper and safe operation prior to using.
Immediately, reports any equipment damage, maintenance problems or concerns, or safety issues to the Welding Superintendent and /or Lead Welder as directed by management.
Works safely in a wide variety of climatic conditions and jobsite environments commonly found at Moretrench job sites.
Responsibilities
Required Skills:
Possesses basic understanding of and experience with SMAW welding processes.
Demonstrates capabilities to the Moretrench QC Manager by performing open butt groove weld with out backing on structural steel plate in horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions utilizing 6010 root and 7018 filler and cap processes (SMAW).
Understands basic safety concepts and proper safety procedures related to welding including, but not limited to, safety equipment, protective clothing, and procedures applicable to the cutting and welding of metals. (ref. NCCER 29101-03,Welding Safety ANSI Z49.1)
Skilled in working safely on jobsites according to OSHA, MSHA, ANSI, and other welding safety protocols and requirements.
Understands the set up of arc welding equipment, and the uses of tools for cleaning welds. (ref. NCCER 29105-03 SMAW - Equipment and Setup)
Understands electrode characteristics and different types of filler metals.
Understands proper storage and control of filler metals. (ref. NCCER 29106-03 SMAW - Electrodes and Selection)
Understands open butt groove welds.(ref. NCCER 29108-03 SMAW - Groove Welds without Backing)
High school degree, GED, or the equivalent.
Valid Florida driver's license, or the equivalent.
Qualifications

Requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination.

Fitter - Fabrication Shop - 2nd Shift

The Industrial Fitter is responsible for assembling, installing, and maintaining mechanical components and systems in a fabrication shop. This role involves working with various materials and machinery to ensure that all fittings and assemblies meet project specifications and industry standards. The Industrial Fitter plays a crucial role in ensuring the functionality and safety of fabricated components used in industrial applications.
Key Responsibilities:
Assemble and install mechanical components and systems according to blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications. This includes fitting pipes, valves, structural members and other equipment.
Use hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments to ensure accurate fitting and alignment of components. Adjust as necessary to meet project requirements.
Assist in the fabrication of metal and non-metal components, including cutting, bending, and welding. Collaborate with welders and other shop personnel to complete fabrication tasks.
Perform routine maintenance and repairs on mechanical systems and equipment. Troubleshoot issues and implement solutions to ensure optimal performance and safety.
Read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints to understand component specifications and installation procedures. Maintain accurate records of work performed, including parts used and any modifications made.
Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhere to industry safety standards.
Inspect finished assemblies and installations for quality and accuracy. Verify that all work meets project specifications and industry standards. Report any issues or discrepancies to the supervisor.
Work closely with other fitters, machinists, and fabrication shop personnel to complete projects efficiently and effectively. Provide support and guidance to junior staff or apprentices if required.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent. Technical training or certification in industrial fitting, mechanical systems, or a related field is preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of 2 years of experience as an industrial fitter or in a similar role within a fabrication shop or industrial setting.
Hands-on experience with mechanical assemblies and installations is essential.
Knowledge Skills & Abilities:
Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments.
Strong understanding of mechanical systems, assembly techniques, and technical documentation.
Good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Relevant certifications in industrial fitting, welding, or other applicable areas may be required or preferred.
Work Location and Travel:
The main office is located at 2730 Mine and Mill Road, Lakeland, FL.
Days and hours of work may vary at times to include some evenings and weekends.
Work Environment:
Work is performed in a fabrication shop environment, which may involve exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
Adherence to safety protocols and use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protection is required.
