A Fitter/Welder, will work either individually, or, as a part of a small team, to produce Sheet Metal weldments.
Weldments must meet the dimensional specifications of the mechanical engineered drawings. A Fitter/Welder will be required to determine, from the drawing, where each weld is to be performed, and meet the size and length requirements of each weld specified within the given tolerance allowed.
A Fitter/Welder is also required to perform any cosmetic or appearance specifications of the weldment. This may require grinding welds and sheet metal buffing.

Structural * Capable of certifying on multi-process pipe being proficient in SMAW, GTAW and GMAW welding processes. * May require x-ray qualities. * Lays out, aligns and welds fabricated, cast and forged components to assemble structural forms such as machinery frames, tanks, pressure vessels, furnace shells, buildings and pipe, according to blueprints and metallurgy.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Selects type and size of pipe or other related materials and equipment according to specifications.
* Selects equipment and plans layouts, assembly, and welding, applying knowledge of geometry, physical properties of metal machining, weld shrinkage and welding techniques.
* May be required to use Gas-Metal Arc, Flux-Cored Arc, Gas-Tungsten Arc, Submerged Arc, or Shielded Metal Arc welding processes.
* Lays out, positions, aligns and fits components together in various body positions.
* Bolts, clamps and welds together metal components of products such as piping systems, plate, pipe and tube or structural shapes, using arc and arc gas welding equipment. May weld in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead position.
* May tack weld assemblies together.
* Connects cable from welding unit to obtain amperage, voltage, slope and pulse as specified by procedure or supervisor.
* Obtains specified electrode and inserts electrode into portable holder or threads consumable electrode wire through portable welding gun.
* Starts power supply to produce electric current.
* Strikes arc which generates heat to melt and deposit metal from electrode to work piece and join edges of work piece.

* May preheat work piece, using hand torch or heating furnace.
* May cut metal plates or structural shapes.

Your primary role will be to facilitate student learning, not only helping our students achieve their program and course objectives but guiding them as they shape their future in the industry. Our instructors organize all aspects of the classroom function, including cleanliness, safety, demonstration materials, and lecture. You will administer lessons following a pre-developed lesson plan, leading your students through the practical, hands-on application of the lessons you teach.
Role Responsibilities:
We ask all our instructors to motivate their students by demonstrating professionalism, enthusiasm, and sensitivity for their concerns. We want you to engage them, actively involving them in classroom discussions and/or activities. An important part of this role is to identify different student learning styles and adjust your own style accordingly.
* You will maintain accurate record keeping, as it applies to student attendance and their grades, and you will advise students on their attendance, grades, and discipline issues, as necessary
* Our instructors are expected to create and maintain a safe environment at all times.
* It will be your responsibility to manage all tools assigned to the classroom. You will issue, inspect, repair, and teach proper handling of those tool
* As a highly visible representative of the school, you will communicate, support, and enforce school policies and procedures at all times, and advise students accordingly
* During periods of testing, you will ensure an ethical and fair testing environment
* Instructors are responsible for maintaining classroom equipment through evaluation, inspection, parts ordering, and repair.

Printed Material, Classroom Supplies & Tools:
* You will be asked to teach new instructors, as part of the new employee orientation, how to request and order material, supplies and tool
* Instructors are expected to conduct a monthly inventory of the tools necessary for classroom projects and discuss discrepancies with the phase instructor. You will report discrepancies to the Lead Instructor/Director of Training.
* You will prompt other instructors to order printed material, supplies, and tools to ensure adequate materials are available for student
Personal Professional Development:
* You will establish and implement a plan to cross-train and be able to teach in any phase of training necessary
* You will update the Lead Instructor/Director of Training on the progress of your plan for his/her review and feedback
