Key Tasks & Responsibilities

Set welding machines to proper voltage and wire speed for materials being welded.

Qualifications, Skills, & Attributes
Education:

Pass welding test for Tee Joint (F2) and Vertical (F3)

Language Skills:

• Pass internal welding certification in conjunction with requirements under ISO, AAR, and other regulatory agencies;

About the Role:
U.S. Pipe is seeking a Welder to join our team. This position is responsible to lay out, fit and fabricate metal components to assemble structural forms using knowledge of welding techniques, metallurgy, and engineering requirements.
Specific Responsibilities:
* Does all work required of Welder "B".
* Does all types of submerge arc welding.
* Does layout work and works from blueprints on difficult jobs without supervision.
* Does special repair and construction jobs as required.
* Does maintenance welding as required.
* Assigns work in absence of group leader or foreman.

What You'll Do:
Promote Safety. Take an active role in prioritizing safety in accordance with MSHA and Vulcan standards throughout the plant for yourself and others at all times.
Become Familiar with Tools and Equipment. Use a variety of hand and power tools in performing duties.
Learn to Diagnose Problems. Learn to diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, detect and replace defective components, test, and make regular adjustments.
Learn to Weld. Perform highly diversified duties to install and maintain production machines. Plan, lay out, install, and repair a wide variety of complex equipment.
Perform Maintenance. Perform a variety of maintenance and carpentry functions. Learn to perform regular preventative maintenance on machines and plant facilities.
Complete Apprenticeship Program. Attend and successfully complete a three year apprentice program that includes a classroom setting.
Additional Responsibilities. Other duties as assigned.
Skills You'll Need:
Education. High School Diploma or GED is required. Technical school is preferred.
Functional Knowledge. Must have thorough knowledge of welding material, welding properties, and various types of metals. Must be able to interpret blueprints. Must be able to wire feed welding machines to hard face and fabricate and repair liners.
Welding Skills. Must have welding experience. Must be able to perform brazing, welding, arc-welding, and cutting tasks.
Flexibility. Must be willing to work overtime and extended hours depending on customer and company demands. Must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions and tolerate being exposed to loud noises.
Mechanical Skills. Must have some knowledge of industrial tools, their uses, and maintenance.

Job Responsibilities:
Operate welding equipment and machinery, such as arc welders, MIG welders, TIG welders to fuse metal components.
Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols to understand the welding specifications and join metal components accurately.
Perform visual inspections and non-destructive testing to verify the quality of welds.
Correct any defects or imperfections in the welds, if necessary
Work in various positions, including flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead, as required by project.
Work closely with project managers and other teams to ensure the proper alignment and assembly of the fire and life safety system.
Communicate effectively with team members to achieve project goals.
Identify and trouble shoot issues related to welding.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
What We Are Looking For:

Welding certification
10+ years of experience
Must be able to pass a welding exam.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and welding symbols.
Strong attention to detail and precision in work
Good communication and teamwork abilities
Basic math skills for measuring, calculating, and layout tasks.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Comfortable working in various environments, including industrial facilities, commercial buildings, and outdoor settings.
Capable of standing, walking, bending, and kneeling for extended periods.
Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces as needed.
