The ideal candidate for this position is someone who is passionate about supporting human beings in achieving their hopes and dreams. As a DSP, you will be responsible for maintaining consistent engagement with the people you are supporting, whether they are at home or out in the community. You will be required to work independently, create safe environments, and provide accurate documentation for the support provided during every shift. Duties may include:
Supporting people in understanding and exercising their rights
Encouraging people to live a fulfilling life as independently as possible through self-advocacy
Providing the best person-centered supports to meet people's needs throughout their lives
Supporting and encouraging positive interactions

Providing transportation for those you are supporting

Utilizing Positive Support Programs to guide daily interactions
Supporting a person with personal hygiene and medical-related needs, including medication administration
Providing documentation at the end of each shift

DSPs who work at ILC residential and vocational locations support individuals with planned activities that encourage community inclusion, habilitation, and activities of daily living.

As a DSP with ILC working in Supported Services, you will be supporting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities at their jobs, in the community, and in their homes. The job coaching component of this position focuses on supporting people in seeking and maintaining competitive employment, while in-home support can be a variety of day-to-day activities in the home and out in the community.

Vocational (Days): $16.00
Residential (Evenings, Overnights, Weekends): $16.50 ($13.50 per hour for asleep hours)

Working Conditions:
This work can be physically demanding in some situations. Some physical work examples could be but are not limited to:
Intervening in aggressive situation and/or physically demanding responsibilities

An essential function of the DSP role is providing transportation. ILC requires all DSPs to have a reliable vehicle at every shift.
