Your Day at Lowe's
As a Receiver/Stocker, you keep our stores clean and presentable to improve customers' overall shopping experience. You ensure our merchandise is accurately received and replenished by safely unloading merchandise from incoming freight, moving it to the sales floor, and stocking shelves.

About the Opportunity
A leading manufacturer in the building materials sector is seeking a highly experienced Plant Superintendent to oversee operations within its largest department. This is a critical leadership role, ideal for someone with a strong engineering background and deep understanding of mechanical processes, union environments, and continuous improvement.
You'll lead a team of over 150 hourly and 6 salaried employees, with full responsibility for safety, production, maintenance, quality, and strategic performance within the plant. This position offers the opportunity to make a direct impact on operational excellence, people development, and long-term plant performance.
What You'll Do
Lead and manage daily plant operations: production, maintenance, quality, warehouse, and safety
Drive cost reduction, equipment efficiency, and strategic process improvements through lean tools and Six Sigma
Partner with QA/QC, engineering, and maintenance teams to ensure process alignment and operational integrity
Own the development and execution of operating budgets, productivity plans, and training strategies
Supervise performance management for a large team: 150+ hourly workers and 6 salaried staff
Coach engineers and supervisors; support technical troubleshooting at the mechanical/process level
Oversee the plant's largest department (Pipe Production): 10 production lines, 4 production supervisors, and multiple engineers
Ensure compliance with all regulatory and environmental requirements
Serve as acting Plant Manager when needed
Who You Are
7+ years of leadership experience in a manufacturing setting, preferably in glass, batch/melt processes, or heavy industry
Bachelor's degree required (Engineering strongly preferred - Mechanical, Industrial, Chemical, or Ceramics)
Proven success in union environments (UAW/USW), grievance handling, and labor relations
Experience managing cross-functional teams including operations, maintenance, and engineering
Strong technical aptitude with hands-on understanding of mechanical systems (motors, ovens, furnaces)
Track record of implementing Lean/Six Sigma, driving CI culture, and reducing operational waste
Skilled in ERP systems (SAP preferred) and standard tools like MS Office
Strong leadership presence and ability to mentor future leaders
Excellent communicator and team-builder across all levels of the organization
Work Environment
Heavy industrial manufacturing environment (exposure to heat, noise, machinery, dust, etc.)
Frequent walking, climbing, and occasional lifting (up to 50 lbs)
Union facility; requires understanding of union processes
Reports to: Plant Manager
May act as Plant Manager in their absence
