Serve Philadelphia VISTA members serve full-time (30 hours per week) for one full year within City Departments on anti-poverty projects that have a lasting impact for Philadelphians.
The service term is August 26, 2024- August 25, 2025.
Serving as a VISTA is both a great way to support Philadelphia's communities and to develop your career. We provide members of the Serve Philadelphia VISTA Corps with monthly professional development workshops, regular cohort experiences, networking opportunities and pathways to a career in public service.

Availability: Must be available to work ALL scheduled events, including nights, weekends, and select holidays.
Experience: Minimum of one (1) year of work experience in catering, events, banquets, or restaurants preferred. Equivalent experience may be considered.
Education: High School diploma or equivalent GED strongly preferred. Equivalent experience may be substituted.
Age Requirement: Must be at least 18 years of age to serve alcoholic beverages.
Certifications: RAMP Certification (Responsible Alcohol Management Program) is required.
Interpersonal Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills with a friendly, positive attitude toward co-workers, managers, volunteers, and guests.
Physical Requirements & Flexibility:
Standing and Walking: Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 6 hours) during shifts, ensuring the efficient delivery of service and maintaining event areas.
Lifting and Carrying: Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry heavy objects (up to 50 lbs), and perform tasks that require bending, stretching, twisting, or reaching with arms, legs, and body.
Endurance and Stamina: This role requires physical endurance and stamina to support event setups, guest interactions, and general operational tasks throughout the venue.
Outdoor Work Environment: Comfortable working in an outdoor setting during all weather conditions, including rain, heat, or cold, as necessary for event service and coordination.
Flexible Schedule: Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and select holidays.
