The English Department at Reed College invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professorship in poetry and poetics beginning in August 2025. Candidates should specialize in English-language poetry of the 20th and/or 21st centuries, with a particular focus on or interest in formal questions. We are especially interested in candidates with an interest and ability to teach American and/or transatlantic poetry. We seek candidates with a strong commitment to teaching excellence at the undergraduate level, and whose writing reflects a lively and serious program of scholarship. Teaching responsibilities include the introductory course in the English department in poetry and poetics (with a focus on formal analysis); an advanced course in poetry; a year-long interdisciplinary course with a preset syllabus (Humanities 110), focused on the development of analytical and critical skills of first-year students; and advising year-long senior theses. This role involves managing KDUP's student volunteers, including recruitment, training, and task assignment. Responsibilities also encompass coordinating station promotions, supporting events, ensuring program quality, and fostering a positive volunteer experience through communication, feedback, and social media engagement. Provide a wide variety of park maintenance tasks and park improvements under direct supervision. These tasks are illustrative only and may include other related duties. The Garden Assistant is a core member of the Rogue Retreat Hope Garden Team. This position will help coordinate a volunteer team of community members and shelter guests to produce fresh produce for Hope Kitchen. Hope Kitchen feeds over 320 shelter guests each day at three locations. This position will help increase the access to fresh and healthy food for shelter guests and educate volunteers on the basics of gardening.
