Each summer, WIC partners with the Minnesota Department of Agriculture to provide $30 to WIC families to spend on fresh fruits and vegetables at local farmers' markets. Volunteers work in WIC clinics, assisting WIC staff in handing out vouchers and educating families on basic nutrition topics & how to use their farmers' market benefits. The Farmers' Market Nutrition Program starts on June 1st and ends September 30th, but you do not have to be available for the full period to volunteer. Ideally, the time commitment expected is a minimum of 3 hours per week for most weeks between June 3rd and August 30th.
We are primarily looking for volunteers with previous nutrition education or experience, such as undergraduate and graduate students in nutrition and dietetics, former WIC staff, and those with degrees in nutrition.

South Minneapolis WIC clinic, 2215 East Lake Street
NorthPoint Health & Wellness Center WIC clinic, 2220 Plymouth Avenue N
Northwest Family Service Center WIC clinic, 7051 Brooklyn Boulevard
Clinic hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with extended hours until 6 PM on Tuesday at South Minneapolis, Wednesday at the Northwest location, and Thursday at NorthPoint.

QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree preferred.
Experience in volunteer coordination, community outreach, or program support in a church or nonprofit setting.
Strong relationship-building skills with volunteers, church leaders, and community organizations.
Excellent communication and public speaking abilities to engage diverse groups effectively.
Strong organizational and leadership skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.

Light travel--includes overnight stays. Travel may include assisting in new showroom setups, factory visits and to some furniture markets. Amount of travel is discretionary depending on the needs of the buyer and the department. Must be able to travel using all forms of transportation including, plane, automobile, bus, train, or boat for extended periods, both domestically and internationally. Will need to obtain a passport if traveling internationally
Qualifications
It is highly recommended the candidate is comfortable working on a computer for most of their daily job functions which includes using several Microsoft (Word, Excel), Google (Drive, Sheets, G-Mail), and In-house custom software programs tailored to your specific job responsibilities. Education and/or Experience High School diploma or GED and three years equivalent experience in a merchandising role. Prior experience in "buying" is not required however experience in the furniture industry is a plus.
