Teach and supervise organized games and assist the activity leaders, escort groups to and from activity areas and field trips and carry out other tasks as directed by Group Leaders.
Fulfill administrative requirements (Assist in planning activities, schedules and special events, attendance records, incident report, & progress reports).
Enforce program rules, identify & respond to participant behavior issues and carry out corrective action when needed by identifying and seeking to resolve conflicts and behavioral problems.
Communicate with parents about participant's experiences and report concerns to Group Leader.
Know and enforce ALL emergency procedures and follow all safety guidelines associated with all program areas. This includes but is not limited to being responsible for youth's safety and their whereabouts at all times.
Attend staff training, weekly meetings, case conferences, and supervision meetings.
Other duties as required and assigned by Program Director, ADED and/or DED.
Qualifications/Educational Requirements
Must be at least 16 years of age.
At least one year of experience working with children in groups.
High School Diploma/GED, some college preferred.
Must have ability to work collaboratively.
Must have a sense of humor, positive demeanor and a passion for youth development.
Must be able to pass Criminal Background Check including Fingerprint Screening, Sex Offender Registry and be physically able to work with children (via a physician's consent including TB screening)

PHS' Community Health and Nutrition Access Program helps New York residents obtain free or low-cost health insurance coverage, apply for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, also known as Food Stamps), and through our WIC program, provides nutrition education sessions led by WIC nutritionists on healthy eating and physical activity, breastfeeding support, and eWIC cards to purchase nutritious foods. Our staff members are culturally and linguistically competent and identify with the communities they serve. They help clients navigate through what can be a complicated and confusing application process, step by step. Each year, we help over 22,000 people apply for or renew free or low-cost health insurance coverage, 14,000 people to apply for SNAP, and 35,000 eligible pregnant and nursing women and children up to five years of age to enroll in the New York State WIC (Women Infants and Children) Program.
Summary of Position:
Under direct supervision of the Center Manager, the Community Service Aide (CSA) is responsible for all clerical aspects of the job with direct supervision by the Nutritionist. Additionally, the CSA provides financial and residential screenings to WIC applicants to ensure maximum program enrollment and program integrity.
Specifically, the Community Service Aide will:
* Welcomes WIC participants to the Center
* Provides general knowledge of WIC program and orientation to new participants
* Performs client anthropometric and hematological measurements on site to prevent delay in benefits between physician visits
