Job Summary: StribVarsity Hubs and Stats Editor
We are seeking a resourceful editor and leader to oversee content on our popular Hubs webpages and direct a team committed to publishing Minnesota's best collection of high school sports stats.
You should have a strong track record of leading teams and have displayed your commitment to a mission as important as this one. You must be able to develop relationships within the prep sports community so that our avenues for collecting stats and information for the Hubs remain healthy and grow. Our Hubs will be the most dynamic, most dependable source of team and school information such as stats, schedules, results and more - and you will be the person leading the charge on this mission.
You will work constantly with our Product team at the Star Tribune as we redevelop our Hubs webpages into a modern high school stats powerhouse that demands daily attention from prep sports fans and followers across the state. You are often Product's go-to newsroom connection. You are an indispensable teammate at the intersection of the stats team, the newsroom, our Product team and our AI Lab team. You are eager to innovate.
You also will work constantly with the high school sports coverage team and key editors from around the newsroom. Collaboration will happen every day, and you should invite that. You will have freelance workers on your stats team, and you need to develop and keep their trust and connection.
Working closely with our AI Lab and others, you will lead us on a new venture around content creation using our stats, technology, AI and other methods. Our goal is to grow with scale on high school sports content, and you'll be a key player in this mission. You and your team will contribute to and lead in some instances other pieces of our high school sports coverage expansion and related content that will be featured on the Hubs you manage, including our livestreaming efforts, content partnerships and more.
We require solid news judgment and sharpened leadership skills for this position. You are eager to attract readers on all channels and platforms. You strive for SEO excellence. You should have a demonstrated track record of balancing daily demands while participating and leading enterprise-level missions.
You will:

Salary/Wage Range
Annual pay for this H-scale position is $89,317, or $1,717.64 per week, as stated in the contract of the Minnesota Newspaper and Communications Guild.
