The Role

Rize Education is looking for a Video Editor Lead who can blend the best of YouTube tutorials, with a sprinkle of John Oliver-style talking heads, and a dash of Vox explainers - into something uniquely effective for college students.
Our team's goal is specific: create instructional videos that help undergraduates at small colleges across America learn their course material, complete assignments, stay motivated to graduate, and ultimately land jobs that make their education worth the investment. Success isn't measured in views or clicks - it's measured in student comprehension and retention.
You'll be part of a lean, focused content team (Head of Content, Creative Producer, and you) that moves fast and smart. We're looking for someone who leverages every tool available - Yes Adobe Suite or FCPX, but also GenAI, templates, pre-built motion graphics and more - to produce high-quality content efficiently. Organizational skills, file management and naming conventions need to be top-notch: our courses require regular semester updates, and modular thinking.
Working closely with our instructional design team, you'll transform complex academic concepts into clear, engaging video content. Whether for a 5-minute or a 25-minute video, you'll respect students' time while ensuring they get the information they need to succeed.
Once we establish our workflow, you'll have significant autonomy in when and where you work, as long as deadlines are met and quality remains high.
You'll report to Joel (Head of Content) alongside our Creative Producer Lead and work closely with our Product and Instructional Design teams.
Responsibilities (aka What You'll Do):
Edit short, medium, and long-form educational content, course trailers, interviews with industry professionals, and more.
Design and implement visual solutions (graphics, text, animations) that make complex concepts easier to understand.
Build and maintain an effective file organization system that enables easy semester-by-semester updates, and works for a remote team.
Leverage AI tools, templates, and design packages to maintain high quality at a fast pace.
Collaborate closely with the Instructional Design team to ensure academic accuracy while enhancing engagement.
Balance student time constraints with learning needs when making editing decisions.
Work effectively with a distributed team while maintaining consistent communication.
Travel to filming locations up to 4-5 times per year.
Manage multiple simultaneous projects while maintaining quality and meeting deadlines.
Create reusable assets and templates to improve team efficiency.

Qualifications

About the Role:
We are hiring a talented and experienced Video Editor to drive brand awareness across our social platforms by creating highly engaging video content and ad campaigns. We are seeking a highly organized and creatively driven Post Production Coordinator & Senior Video Editor to join our dynamic post-production team. This hybrid role combines project coordination, leadership in video editing, storytelling expertise, and hands-on work as a DIT (Digital Imaging Technician) on set.
You will manage the post-production workflow, collaborate with external freelancers and vendors, deliver high-quality video content, and lead the creative post process. Additionally, you will ensure that footage is properly organized and ready for editing as it comes in from production.
Focus Areas:
Post Production Coordination
* Project & Schedule Management: Maintain and manage a detailed post-production schedule to ensure all phases (editing, sound, color grading, etc.) are completed on time. Track project milestones and deadlines, adjusting workflows as necessary.
* Freelancer & Vendor Management: Coordinate with freelancers and external vendors (such as sound designers, colorists, and motion graphics artists) to ensure timely delivery of work and adherence to project quality standards.
* Asset Management: Organize and track media assets, ensuring all files are well-documented, accessible, and properly archived for easy retrieval.

* Technical Support: Troubleshoot any technical issues with media, camera files, or equipment on set to ensure that all footage is captured and stored without issues.
* Footage Integrity: Ensure that media is safeguarded against corruption or loss during the transfer process and that all necessary metadata (e.g., scene, take, shot type) is accurately recorded.
Desired Skills & Experience:

Collaborating with the Chief Brand Officer to ideate / conceptualize video content materials that serve BAM's brand, marketing, programming and growth initiatives. The Senior Video Editor then leads the creation of video content assignments for said BAM initiatives and other projects as assigned (educational, and archival initiatives). Elevated craft and technical skills to produce best in class video content materials. Create and maintain a well-run video editorial dept. focused on maximizing the craft and quality of finished work, developing skills, and supervising (internal and external partners) and maintaining and auditing a library of video equipment.
