This position is located within the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO), ICE Health Service Corps (IHSC), Office of Deputy Assistant Director of Clinical Services. The incumbent will report directly to the site Health Services Administrator. This is a non-supervisory position.
IHSC has a multi-sector, multidisciplinary workforce of more than 1400 employees, including U.S. Public Health Service (PHS) commissioned officers, federal civil servants, and contract staff. The IHSC provides on-site direct patient care to ICE detainees at 23 detention facilities throughout the country and manages the provision of off-site medical care for detainees housed in approximately 240 additional Intergovernmental Service Agreement (IGSA) facilities. The ICE detainee population is approximately 34,000 detainees on a daily basis, with an average length of stay of approximately 30 days, and over 400,000 detainees annually. Duties and Responsibilities:
Following preventative maintenance procedures in the inspection, repair and/or replacement of items subject to cause production downtimes.
Routinely complete preventative maintenance activities per company programs.
Take time to learn the function and operation of all production and support equipment through communication with operators and other maintenance staff.
Acquire a working knowledge of all monitoring and diagnostic equipment.
Acquire a working knowledge of blueprints, layouts and technical data.
Learns to properly maintain all equipment with a minimum amount of assistance.
Adhere to current plans and programs set forth by the company and direct supervision.
Eagerly assist others in the completion of tasks, including clean-up activities.
Operate and maintain all tooling and equipment per manufacturers specifications.
Interacts with others and performs work in a professional manner.
Follow all company safety rules and PPE use.
Follow all company rules and procedures regarding daily work activity.
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent minimum; higher education and/or certifications preferred.
Must mechanically inclined
Must possess a basic knowledge of welding and hydraulics
Previous experience with equipment maintenance in a manufacturing environment (5+ years).
This position is day shift, but candidates should be flexible to work 12-hour shifts rotating days/nights and weekends/holidays and on call; as needed.
Must have own set of tools.
Must successfully pass pre-employment testing and background check if given a conditional job offer.
Physical and Safety Requirements: (This is a safety sensitive position)
Ability to work in an industrial environment that includes heat, cold, noise and strong smell of pine.
Safely operate assigned tools and equipment.
Safely maneuver around moving machinery, uneven ground, steps, ladders and stairs.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
Adherence to consistent hydration schedule.
Ability to lift, push, pull and have exposure to various weights of veneer, plywood, landscape timbers, bark and sawdust.
Ability to lift over shoulder/head height
Ability to stoop, walk, stand, push, pull, bend, kneel, climb as to demonstrate a range of motion needed to complete assigned work during 12-hour shifts.
Must be able to hear, read and see directions; instructions and/or signals.
Clearly communicate safety issues and concerns as they appear.
