The Role:
We're looking for a full-time, in-office Risk Underwriter to be the backbone of our risk management strategy. You'll be responsible for underwriting creators and their businesses before they join, making sure they're delivering valuable, ethical, and high-quality offers to their customers. You'll also keep a watchful eye on existing creators on the platform to manage ongoing risk and protect both us and our community of creators and their customers.
You'll bring a sharp eye for detail, solid underwriting experience, and a sixth sense for sniffing out what's good business-and what's not. You'll help us grow responsibly while maintaining the trust of our creators and their customers.
What You'll Do:
Review and underwrite new creators, their businesses, and their offers to ensure they meet our standards for quality, legitimacy, and customer satisfaction

Continuously monitor existing creators on the platform for any emerging risks or red flags
Collaborate with our growth and support teams to make informed, fast-paced decisions

Investigate disputes, chargebacks, and other incidents to identify root causes and solutions

What You'll be doing:
Analyzes exposures and communicates with team members, loss prevention, premium audit, and technical specialists to thoroughly evaluate insured risks when making mid-term policy changes and reviewing renewals. Maintains and monitors entire underwriting book of business to achieve premium volume and loss ratios consistent with company goals and objectives.

Facilitates and educates current and prospective policyholders and promotes SFM's services in a marketing role.

The base pay posted is just one component of SFM's total compensation package. The salary range listed represents the full compensation range for this position. WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY? The role of the Underwriter III is to evaluate the credit risk against company standards and to determine the borrower's ability to repay a residential mortgage. The Underwriter III analyzes and interprets the most complex financial and non-financial data decisioning the requests with the goal of achieving the optimal quality asset for the bank while satisfying the needs of borrower. The Underwriter III is also responsible for LLCs along with other complex borrower types. The Underwriter III works within established lending authorities and guidelines, with complex or unusual situations escalated to the next highest authority level for resolution. * Minimum 5 years of experience in jumbo underwriting to investor or organization's guidelines required.
* Minimum 5 years of experience with state and federal lending regulations (i.e., Ability to Repay (ATR), RESPA, Reg B, Reg O, Reg Z, Fair Lending, etc.).

* Familiarity with FNMA/FHLMC guidelines.

Responsibilities
We are seeking a Senior Commercial Underwriter for our Commercial & Industrial segment with revenue size of $75-$500MM, both privately and publicly owned clients. Additionally, you will review and approve work done by others; act as a mentor and assist in the development of commercial credit analysts and underwriters. You will be responsible for underwriting, large, complex lending opportunities, balancing risk and growth ensuring loan structures are appropriate and consistent with bank lending standards, assign asset quality rating, and decision applications with lending authority in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. You will collaborate with Relationship Managers, internal support staff, and others to provide credit expertise to underwrite and monitor the portfolio.
We are an in office envirornment and offer a wide range of possible office locations including Chciago land, Evansville, Louisville, Nashville, and Minneapolis.
Salary Range
The salary range for this position is $106,100 - $214,600 per year. Final salary will be determined based on factors such as location, experience, skills and qualifications.
Key Accountabilities
Underwrite and Decision Loans
* Independence in the analysis when underwriting complex transactions, thorough knowledge of accounting and legal principles relating to commercial lending.
* Demonstrated ability to decision large and complex credits, offer structure guidance using financial and legal expertise.
* Develop or review detailed cash flow payment analysis to evaluate adherence to Loan Standards and decide.
* Produce a high quality and accurate analysis in a fast-paced, high-volume environment, prioritizing multiple requests while adhering to response timelines, etc.
* Lead special projects to help transform the bank as we continue our growth strategy. Projects include the selection of new systems and tools to improve productivity.
* Contribute to the development and improvement of Underwriting guidelines and presentations on a periodic basis.
* Self-development towards achievement of Credit Risk Certified (CRC) with Risk Management Association (RMA) or other advanced level certifications and other internal training classes/programs.
* Meet quality standards as outlined in underwriting guidelines and policy; evaluation by Loan Review, OCC, to ensure acceptable underwriting or accurate asset quality ratings (AQR).
Partner with respective Relationship Managers as well as Treasury Management Partners
* Navigate and influence credit discussions with RMs by providing expertise and insight for structure.
* Propose options and alternatives based on an exceptional understanding of our credit appetite, repayment risk, client's request, and competitive landscape.
* Demonstrates ability to engage customers and ask performance related questions without guidance from Relationship Managers.
* When exceptions are proposed, appropriately mitigate them and document the rationale with supporting facts and analytics.
* Deliver exceptional internal customer service and adopt new processes and new tools, as available.
* Ensure a collaborative, team, and empowered environment.
Monitor Portfolio
* Serve as a lead on industry analysis including industry reviews, AQR projects and others as assigned.
* Support and articulate AQR assignments, including profitability and impact.
* Work with assigned Relationship Managers to monitor the credit portfolio to maintain strong asset quality; review trend analysis reports, address default situations, delinquencies, review maturing notes, receipt of financial information, review covenant default and Borrowing Base Certificate (BBC) reports and other reports as appropriate.
* Prepare credit data in Special Assets Assessment and Action Summary (SAAAS) and Upgrade Hurdles.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
* Proven ability to quickly assess issues, apply credit policy, offer options and alternatives, come to an accurate and timely decision, and understand impact of decisions.
* Viewed as a resource and mentor by other Underwriters and RMs due to communication, leadership skills, and knowledge of systems (CML, loan standards, approval authorities) through extensive banking and credit experience.
* Desire to achieve the RMA CRC designation or other advanced level certifications.
* Expert skills with loan structuring, borrowing causes and lending regulations; to comply and conform to lending policies, guidelines, and standards.
* Must be able to actively listen, quickly identify issues as well as opportunities when they arise, and solve problems in real-time to move the work accordingly.
* 7 -10+ years of Commercial Credit experience required at a regional or global bank.
* Completed formal commercial credit training preferred.
* Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or related field OR equivalent experience.
