Cheyney University of Pennsylvania invites applicants to submit their candidacy for a part-time, Professional Instructional Leader position, which are grant-funded positions supporting the Department of Natural & Applied Sciences. Professional Instructional leaders may work up to 20 hours per week. Reporting to the Director of Student Success & Wellness through the university's Academic Success Center (ASC), the Professional STEM Instructional Leaders will provide individualized, and where appropriate, targeted group instruction in diverse STEM-related subject areas such as mathematics (including statistics), biology, chemistry, and computer information/cyber security technologies.
Professional Instructional Leaders will work flexible hours that will include being personally available for a minimum number of on-campus, weekly or bi-weekly, in-person, face-to-face, or evening support sessions in addition to using available technology for remote supplemental tutoring options. The Academic Success Center Staff will provide multiple levels of assistance including administrative and scheduling support, access to instructional technology through the university Academic Computer Lab and reserving appropriate space for group and/or private tutoring sessions.

Respond to scheduled appointments with students as well as coordinating consistent follow up appointments.
Provides problem solving strategies and study skills techniques during tutorial sessions.
Discuss students' academic (and other) support needs in specific subject areas.

Lead (facilitate), participate, and/or assist in skill building workshops upon request.

Attend in-person or via remote technology classes if necessary, and as required by the Director to better assist students for future tutoring sessions including organizing small group tutorials for students enrolled in developmental or other courses.
Ensure students sign in, review assignment requirements, academic coaching, assistance with specialized writing for students in diverse writing intensive courses, review completed work, provide documentation of activities, assist with computer logins, and answer general questions.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, Training, and/or Experience:
Minimum of a bachelor's degree in mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Computer/Cyber Technology or CIS or STEM-related fields from a nationally accredited university.
Must be reliable, punctual, and dependable.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Relevant experience and/or expertise in the STEM industry and/or demonstrating an expertise as a seasoned STEM educator, researcher, and/or industry leader will also be considered.
