Job Description:
The ESL Professional tutor will provide remote and in-person tutoring services to individuals and groups. This position may work at all DCC locations (Poughkeepsie, DCC@Fishkill, DCC@HVR, and DCC@FPC). For this position, we are seeking tutors who have experience teaching and/or tutoring students for whom English is a second language.
This position will report to the Tutoring Coordinator for the Learning Commons. The Learning Commons provides academic support to students that promotes deep engagement with learning materials and fosters an appreciation for curiosity, exploration, and growth. The Learning Commons includes a variety of academic support services (Ritz Library, Math & Science Center, Writing Center, Office of Accommodative Services, Testing Services, and CSTEP).
The primary responsibility of the ESL Professional Tutor is to work with individuals and small groups of students in specific courses or in academic skill areas (e.g. reading, writing, grammar, pronunciation, etc.).
