Attend the 3-week, in-person training from August 25, 2025 or September 22, 2025, Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. Work with K-3 students, including those who may have behavioral challenges in addition to academic needs. Become an integral member of the AmeriCorps community and participate in all AmeriCorps trainings, events, and projects. Attend all Reading Assist training sessions and events. Teach students in accordance with the Reading Assist Intervention Program: Prepare lesson plans tailored to the individual needs of each student. Work with a coach to refine and improve instructional methods. Meet regularly with the program manager to discuss the implementation of the intervention and student progress. Monitor student progress and input data. Communicate professionally with coaches, school liaisons, and Reading Assist staff. Maintain accurate records, including student attendance and AmeriCorps service hours. Become a key member of the school community and help recruit future Reading Assist Fellows. Fellows follow their assigned school's schedule, including school breaks and holidays. Qualifications Qualifications Reading Assist Fellows should exhibit the following competencies: Ability to blend, segment, and manipulate sounds within words. Strong interest in literacy, education, and community service. Resilience, adaptability, and professionalism. Openness to constructive feedback. Patience and flexibility in approach. Completion of an AmeriCorps application. Willingness to submit to background checks and fingerprinting. Ability to respond to emails and other communications promptly. Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. College degree preferred. Must be proficient or willing to learn Google Drive, Zoom, PowerPoint, and email tools.
