Job Title Professional Tutors (LP) Agency Texas A&M International University Department Literacy Partnership Proposed Minimum Salary Commensurate Job Type Temporary/Casual Staff (Fixed Term) Job Description TAMIU-LBV Literacy Partnership tutors work in public schools as literacy tutors. Employment is contingent on funding and continued clearance by the partner school.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
* Designing & implementing individualized lessons for struggling readers.
* Keeping accurate records for each child.
* Maintaining the organization and successful atmosphere of each tutoring center.
* Providing support to new tutors.
Minimum Requirements
* Education - Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher learning.
* Experience - Previous experience as an elementary literacy tutor/teacher (or related.)
* Must not be currently enrolled as an undergraduate at TAMIU.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
* Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
* Must possess strong interpersonal skills.
* Awareness of effective literacy intervention process.
* Ability to maintain confidentiality.
* Strong English language role model.
Other Information
* Position is temporary, subject to funding and/or need, as required by the TAMIU and school district Memorandum of Understanding for a collaborative literacy partnership.
* TB test by Partnership district prior to being permitted to work with school children.
* Reliable transportation Monday through Friday during school hours.
* Position requires face-to-face interactions.
* Position requires maintaining a regular schedule of attendance in the workplace.
Pay of rate: $11.35/hour for up 19 hours
