1 part-time positions (18 - 24 hrs/wk
All training will take place in our San Ramon center. Science tutor positions require availability during the school year (a combination of shifts), Mon-Thurs 3:30-10 pm and weekends 10 am-9 pm. Your schedule at BATC will be based on your availability during our business hours and our student/subject demand per day.
Working at BATC:
Pay is $33/hr and up, DOE
We offer set shifts; your regular hours are guaranteed whether or not we are able to schedule students in them.

Participation in carpooling and/or use of the company car for commuting to/from Oakland/Berkeley and San Ramon is available

Qualifications
Science tutors must have a thorough understanding of and ability to teach Biology and Chemistry through the AP level. Prior tutoring experience is preferred and a bachelor's degree (or ongoing study toward a degree) is required. Tutors must be able to take initiative and work independently. At the same time, we expect tutors to collaborate with each other to develop and/or expand curricula. All candidates will be given an assessment test in their subject prior to interviewing.

About SMART's Summer Academic Enrichment Program
The 2025 SMART Summer Program will be in person in San Francisco, and Associate Teachers will work on site Monday-Friday. SMART's Summer Academic Enrichment Program serves rising 5th grade students to prevent and reduce instances of summer learning loss, while providing enriching activities to develop and strengthen the positive bonds of youth to their peers and communities.
Position Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities of the Summer Associate Teacher will include:
Support in assigned 5th grade classrooms daily, providing 1:1 or small group instruction, or other student support as needed.
Sub for academic or advisory teachers in event of teacher absence
Support during snack, recess, and other transitions as needed
Chaperone field trips
Support with program logistics as needed
Build positive and trusting relationships with students, families, and community members. Conduct family outreach (phone calls, etc) as needed.
Implement classroom management techniques to create a nurturing, safe, and structured learning environment
Maintain high expectations for students' academic achievement and conduct

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead Teachers instruct in language arts, math,social studies, social justice, and science. Depending upon class size, classrooms have either a full- or part-time Teaching Assistant in addition to the Lead Teacher.
Curriculum:
· Coordinate with the Head of School, Lead Teacher peers, and Teaching Assistant to implement an appropriate curriculum consistent with the Aurora philosophy and goals, including instruction of small and large groups of students and regular assessments and evaluations of students.
Classroom environment:
· Set up a classroom for onsite and remote learners.
· Keep the classroom clean, safe, and uncluttered throughout the year.
· Organize materials at the end of the year for summer storage.
· Report any classroom maintenance problems to the appropriate staff person.

The 2025 SMART Summer Program will be in person in San Francisco, and Associate Teachers will work on site Monday-Friday.
