PAY: $26-29 an hour

DETAILS ABOUT THE POSITION
*** 2 YEARS EXPERIENCE REQUIRED - MUST BE ABLE TO VERIFY HS DIPLOMA or GED or HIGHER EDUCATION***
POSITION SUMMARY:
The claims examiner reports directly to the claims manager. They are primarily responsible for the processing functions (operation, adjudication, and payment) of UB-92 and HCFA-1500 claims that are received from PHP affiliated medical groups and hospitals for HMO patients.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING:
High school graduate or equivalent required. Must have physical proof on hand if background check is unable to verify your education background.
Minimum of 2 years claims ADJUDICATION related experience in ambulatory, acute care hospital, HMO, or IPA environment
Reimbursement experience
Knowledge of payment methodologies for: Professional (MD), Hospital, Skilled Nursing Facilities, and Ancillary Services
* Knowledge and understanding of timeliness and payment accuracy guidelines for commercial, senior and Medi-Cal claims
* Knowledge of compliance issues as they relate to claims processing
Experience in interpreting provider contract reimbursement terms desirable
Ability to identify non-contracted providers for Letter of Agreement consideration
Data entry experience
Training on basic office automation and managed care computer systems

**Hours:** This is an overnight role. Typical hours are Monday - Friday from 11pm - 7:30am with alternating Saturdays.

**PURPOSE OF JOB:**
The Specimen Processor accession, receive and prepares samples for laboratory analyses. Specimen Processors are responsible for processing the majority of samples that comes into the department. Specimen Processors are required to keep inventory of samples after testing has been completed by scanning them into storage racks. They will also be required to search the lab for any samples not scanned into storage racks. May be cross-trained to perform basic Laboratory Technician or Lab Aide duties. May be responsible for various support activities, including maintaining supply inventory, record-keeping, cleaning, clerical tasks, supply shipping and receiving, mail distribution and other related duties.
**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:**

+ Receives and prepares samples for laboratory analyses.
+ Accurately process standard requisitions per approved procedures at a rate of 72 accessions per hour, heartworm multi-test forms at a rate of 150 accessions per hour, fecal multi-test forms at a rate of 165 accessions per hour, and 2-D requisitions at a rate of 90 accessions per hour.
+ Removes specimens from transport bags enter patient data, label samples and aliquot as needed for multiple testing.
+ Sort samples for distribution throughout the lab (X-rays, Coggins, cytology, etc.).
+ Scan tubes into storage racks and enter specimen data into database to verify the accuracy of information.
+ Accession various specimens to include but not limited to urine, whole blood and plasma, feces, and biopsies.
+ Check all trash containers within the Specimen Processing department when assigned.
+ Assists other lab personnel with specimen storage.
+ Ensure Turn Around Times (TAT's) are met.
+ Reads, understands and follows applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), including safety and quality procedures. Maintains clean and organized work area. Restocks supplies as needed.
+ May be responsible for various post production duties such as maintaining supply inventory, record-keeping, shipping and receiving, cleaning and other related duties. Stock shelves and maintain order in stockroom. Ensures documents are completed according to established SOPs and reflect current manufacturing processes and label claims. May assemble equipment as needed. Prepares and ships supplies, including processing related documentation. Performs variety of administrative duties, such as answering and routing incoming calls, maintain temperature logs and other related activities.
+ Consult with senior peers on non-complex specimen processing tasks to learn through experience.
+ Applies job skills and lab policies and procedures to complete a variety of tasks.
+ Works on specimen processing tasks that are semi-routine in nature without deviating from SOP's is required.
+ May be asked to participate in enterprise initiatives, special projects, and other duties as assigned.

+ Scan tubes into storage racks and enter specimen data into database to verify the accuracy of information.
+ Accession various specimens to include but not limited to urine, whole blood and plasma, feces, and biopsies.
+ Check all trash containers within the Specimen Processing department when assigned.
+ Assists other lab personnel with specimen storage.
+ Ensure Turn Around Times (TAT's) are met.
+ Reads, understands and follows applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), including safety and quality procedures. Maintains clean and organized work area. Restocks supplies as needed.

In This Role:
You will receive, prepare, and accession veterinary samples (blood, urine, feces, and biopsies) for laboratory analysis and testing.
You can expect to remove specimens from transport bags and enter specimen data into a computer tracking system.
You will rack and bundle prepared samples for delivery to each testing department.
You will assist other lab personnel with specimen storage and ensuring that Turn Around Times (TAT's) are met.
From day one, you'll have full autonomy in your work, but you'll also get full support when you need it.
You will play a critical role as part of a successful team that is proud of the work they do and motivated by the common purpose in helping veterinarians quickly diagnose illness and disease in pets and animals.
What You'll Need To Succeed:
You are able to work the overnight shift

Data entry skills preferred.

Sample Processor 1st Shift Early Mornings

We receive thousands of clinical samples every day from Veterinary Clinics, and we run tests on those samples to help veterinarians identify what might be wrong with someone's pet. As a Sample Management Technician, (SMT), also referred to as a Specimen Processor or Specimen Accessioner; you'd be helping to sort, tag, and prepare the samples for testing. The samples that we work with are blood, urine, fecal samples, and biopsies that we receive from the vet clinics (no animals on-site!) Every sample you help to move along quickly and accurately in the process means we are one step closer to finding out how or why they might be sick.
