Responsibilities:
Lead Case Management: Handle a significant personal injury litigation caseload, including motor vehicle, pedestrian, premises liability, and dog bite cases. You will be responsible for all aspects of your cases, from initial consultation through trial. Regularly log detailed notes in Filevine after speaking with any party related to the case, and ensure all deadlines are met.
Trial & Litigation Experience: Single-chair evidentiary hearings, conduct bench trials, and lead jury trials. Provide support on high-stakes cases and contribute to the firm's trial strategy. Thoroughly review all cases prior to meetings and prepare accordingly.
Client Representation: Interview clients, witnesses, and expert witnesses, and provide comprehensive legal advice throughout the litigation process. Serve as lead counsel at hearings, mediations, trials, depositions, and other critical litigation events. Maintain good communication with clients and team members.
Document Drafting & Review: Draft, review, and modify pleadings, motions, discovery responses, subpoenas, demand letters, and other legal documents with precision and attention to detail. Fully review all documents before submission to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Collaboration & Supervision: Work closely with a team of legal assistants, case managers, personal injury paralegals, litigation paralegals, and legal secretaries. Provide mentorship, delegate tasks efficiently, and ensure the smooth management of case files. Update the team regarding your out-of-office status or if you will be unreachable.
Case Management & Technology: Maintain meticulous records in the firm's case management system (Filevine experience preferred). Regularly update case statuses, stay ahead by reviewing your calendar, and avoid filing documents in CCEF without notifying someone to ensure proper cost calculations and avoid duplications. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Zoom, Adobe Acrobat Pro, and electronic filing systems is required.
Qualifications:
A demonstrated commitment to personal injury law, preferably plaintiff-side cases.
Minimum of 2 years of personal injury litigation experience, with a preference for candidates who have successfully led bench and jury trials.
Licensed to practice law in the State of Colorado and in good standing with the Colorado Bar.
Strong negotiation, drafting, research, and communication skills.
Proven ability to manage a caseload with minimal supervision and meet demanding deadlines.
Familiarity with personal injury law, wrongful death, civil law, and related tort law.
Proficiency with case management software (Filevine experience is a plus), G-Suite, and legal technologies.
Bi-lingual candidates are strongly preferred but not required.
