The Learning Specialist is responsible for the design, development, and implementation of learning plans for identified caseloads of students who utilize academic support services through the Center for Academic Achievement (CAA). This position works closely with the CAA's campus partners including the Hartley Academic Resource Center (HARC) to provide support and assistance to student-athletes in reaching their full academic potential. The Learning Specialist will manage a caseload of special populations including student-athletes, first-year students, and/or academically at-risk students to provide them with connections to campus resources, design unique learning plans, and develop sustainable academic success habits. The Learning Specialist also works closely with the CAA's Academic Support Coordinators to connect students with peer tutoring services and peer coaching opportunities along with other academic and instructional support resources.
Typical duties may include but are not limited to:
* Designs and implements academic support services that will increase retention and graduation rates of undergraduate students.
* Works one-on-one or in small groups with student populations such as first-year students, student-athletes, academically at-risk students to build fundamental academic skills using direct pedagogies and appropriate learning strategies. Provides individualized academic coaching to students to promote the development of college success skills.
* Develops achievement/learning plans with students and provide guidance on transferrable skills including time management, effective study strategies, schedule planning, utilizing appropriate campus resources, etc.
* Facilitates learning and academic success plans for students with unique learning needs.
* Serves as the first point of contact/meeting with at risk student populations and oversight/development of peer coaching case management population for student athletes.
* Collaborates with Academic Success Programs team and the Hartley Academic Resource Center team regarding individual learning needs and academic progress of students.

RESPONSIBILITIES
The Certified Personal Trainer will be responsible for providing one-on-one and couples personalized fitness instruction in person to clients at their home, apartment gym or outside while encouraging them to reach their fitness goals. Responsibilities are as follows:

Under the direct supervision of the Executive/Wellness/Program Director, the Personal Trainer prescribes, develops, and assists clients with personalized fitness programs.

All personal trainers will have their clients sign the "YMCA Personal training Contract" prior to starting training with client
Plan and instruct individuals, small groups, or classes with personalized approach following YMCA standards and guidelines.
Contact clients on a regular basis to follow-up on progression of their fitness program.
All personal trainers will enter their availability into Appointment king at a minimum of one week in advance and schedule in their own clients in accordingly.
Arrive promptly for their clients, act professionally and dress according to the requirements: uniform shirt, neat shorts or warm-up pants, sneakers and YMCA name tag.
If unable to make an appointment with a referral, contact client directly
Discuss and promote all other YMCA programs
Motivate members to commit to long term participation
Respond to and report accidents and/or incidents to supervisor immediately.
Interact with members that aren't current clients. Assist with machine usage, appropriate exercise advice - do not give advice that you are not absolutely SURE is safe and appropriate.
Make sure that first time users are encouraged to go through the orientation process. ALL members must fill out the medical form. If you feel that there is a medical condition that requires further investigation or physician's approval, refer it to supervisor.
Be aware of signs that equipment may be in need of maintenance. If the equipment is not functioning properly, place an out of order sign on it and inform supervisor.
Ensure all participants wear appropriate exercise attire and footwear
Make sure all equipment is put away correctly following your sessions. This includes proper restacking of weights.
Attend regularly scheduled, mandatory staff meetings.
