Feed:
* Monitors cattle intake and assigns subsequent distribution of feed by familiarizing self with cattle eating patterns according to gender, days on feed, weather, and breed; maximizes feed intake of cattle by following guidelines issued by consulting nutritionist.
* Ensures accurate feed delivery by monitoring feed bunks and assessing feed distribution, quantity, type, and timeliness of delivery.
* Ensures that newly received cattle are fed in a timely manner by coordinating feeding with the cattle department.
* Minimizes truck downtime by scheduling maintenance/repair; develops and implements feed truck preventative maintenance program.

* Maintains quality of finished feed rations by using quality ingredients and following recommendations from consulting Nutritionists.

Yard:
* Identifies current and future maintenance requirements through communication with management and production personnel.
* Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing maintenance requirements for rolling stock including feed trucks, tractors, and other heavy equipment, and scheduling maintenance and repair.
* Coordinates utility repairs with appropriate service providers. Directs maintenance activities on water systems and tanks to provide a continuous supply of drinking water to livestock.
* Maintains fencing and gates by repairing damage in a timely manner.
* Maintains facility appearance by ensuring that grass/weeds are mowed regularly and trash is properly disposed of.
* Plans and supervises all yard construction, renovation, and replacement projects.

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment is seeking a Community Health Worker Intern to join our Internship Program in the Bureau of Health Promotion located in Garden City for the Summer of 2025. The intern in this role will develop communication products for the CHW section and research best practices in public health communication to inform creation of communications products for the CHW program.
Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:
Develop communication products for the Community Health Worker (CHW) section. Products may include toolkits, one-pagers, fact sheets, short videos, and other effective communications materials. Products to be developed will be determined in conjunction with Communications and Program Staff.
Complete training to include introduction to CHW programs, public health communication, health promotion, and agency communication protocols and practices; and consult with Communication and Program Staff to develop an understanding of communication needs of the CHW program.
Research best practices in public health communication to inform creation of communications products for the CHW program.

Qualifications
* Education:
* Currently enrolled in a college program with a focus in Communications.
* Licensing & Certification:
* Valid Driver's License - Incumbent is required to have and maintain a valid driver's license when operating a state vehicle, a private vehicle, or a rental vehicle for the benefit of the State.
* Minimum Qualifications:
* Currently enrolled in a college program with a focus in Communications.
* Communications equipment and software: camera, video recording.
* Microsoft Teams, Zoom, WebEx, or other virtual meeting platform software.
* Proofreading, editing, attention to detail.
* Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access.
