    Applicants must have passed or be able to pass the pre-enrollment requirements for the MCOLES Basic Training Academy (Reading and Writing Test, Pre-Enrollment Physical Fitness Test). This position is for applicants interested in going to the Police Academy to become sworn law enforcement officer. Under direct supervision, Police Recruits participate in an academy program that provides instruction in criminal law, patrol procedures, community policing, defensive tactics, and other essential skills required for police work. At the completion of the academy, you will become a MCOLES certified Police Officer for the State of Michigan. Duties: Attend and complete required training at the police academy. Learn and demonstrate proficiency in state and federal laws, local ordinances, and police department policies. Participate in practical exercises, including physical fitness training, firearms instruction, and emergency response scenarios. Shadow experienced officers to observe patrol techniques and community interaction. Study and pass examinations on criminal law, investigation techniques, and ethical standards. Maintain physical and mental readiness for law enforcement duties. Perform other training-related duties as assigned.
