ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Cattle:
* Inspects incoming loads of cattle for miscounts, sick animals, or other inconsistencies between received load and A report; checks in cattle; records load information.
* Utilizes a horse to ride through assigned pens and identify sick animals by observing outward signs of distress; segregates sick cattle for treatment by driving them to nearest hospital pen; calls deads in for removal.
* Moves/drives cattle in a low-stress manner.
* Assists in the shipment of fat cattle by opening gates, driving cattle to shipping areas for weighing; counting cattle and separating strays; checking withdrawals.
* Medically treats livestock according to protocols established by management and consulting veterinarian; administers treatment in a humane manner.
* Internally examines dead animals to determine the cause of death. Processes cattle by ear tagging, administering vaccines, implants, parasitics, and other preventive measures; sorts, re-implants, mass treats, and re-vaccinates cattle according to established protocol; administers vaccines and treatment according to label specifications.
* Ensures that no animal leaves the facility without meeting applicable withdrawals by maintaining thorough and accurate records.
Feed:
* Monitors cattle intake and assigns subsequent distribution of feed by familiarizing self with cattle eating patterns according to gender, days on feed, weather, and breed; maximizes feed intake of cattle by following guidelines issued by consulting nutritionist.
* Ensures accurate feed delivery by monitoring feed bunks and assessing feed distribution, quantity, type, and timeliness of delivery.
* Ensures that newly received cattle are fed in a timely manner by coordinating feeding with the cattle department.
* Minimizes truck downtime by scheduling maintenance/repair; develops and implements feed truck preventative maintenance program.
* Maintains cattle feeding records by compiling, entering, and analyzing information.
* Fills in when a driver is absent or as necessary by operating a feed truck, hay machine or tractor.
Mill:
* Minimizes mill downtime by completing maintenance requirements and scheduling maintenance/repair; develops and implements mill preventative maintenance program.
* Monitors quality control of commodities received through regular inspection.
* Maintains quality of finished feed rations by using quality ingredients and following recommendations from consulting Nutritionists.
* Complies with applicable OSHA, FDA, and EPA regulations; maintains appropriate compliance records.
Yard:
* Identifies current and future maintenance requirements through communication with management and production personnel.
* Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing maintenance requirements for rolling stock including feed trucks, tractors, and other heavy equipment, and scheduling maintenance and repair.
* Coordinates utility repairs with appropriate service providers. Directs maintenance activities on water systems and tanks to provide a continuous supply of drinking water to livestock.
* Maintains fencing and gates by repairing damage in a timely manner.
* Maintains facility appearance by ensuring that grass/weeds are mowed regularly and trash is properly disposed of.
* Plans and supervises all yard construction, renovation, and replacement projects.
* Maintains roads, pens, and alleys by filling in holes, controlling dust, and removing accumulated manure.
* Maintains environmental compliance and corresponding records according to specified EPA guidelines; collects soil and water samples for testing.
* Utilizes best methods of planting, cultivation, harvesting, and knowledge of various climatic conditions on crops to ensure high yields; develops methods for control of noxious weeds, crop diseases, and insect pests.
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Undergraduate degree and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
* Knowledge of Word Processing software; Spreadsheet software and Database software.
* Valid drivers license.
* Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
* Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
* Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
* Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

About the Treasurer/Public Trustee Office:
The Jefferson County Treasurer is an elected official, and all activities of the Treasurer's office are specifically mandated by the Colorado Constitution and state statutes. The Treasurer collects all real and personal property taxes for the county, the school district, all cities and more than 180 special districts that operate in the county. Per state law, the Treasurer is also the Public Trustee. The Public Trustee department is a division within the Treasurer's office handling Deed Releases and foreclosures with Jefferson County.
The Treasury Finance Trainee plays a key role in supporting the implementation and coordination of banking, investment, and financial policies under close general supervision. This position is designed for a motivated learner who can build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to address Treasury-related issues and support informed decision-making within the Treasurer's Office. The trainee provides insights and recommendations to directors and managers through analytical assessments, legislative reviews, and predictive analyses.
Working closely with the current Treasury Finance Officer, the trainee assists in developing executive-level presentations, delivering staff training, enforcing established policies and procedures, and monitoring budget performance through audit and review. The role also involves supporting hiring processes, participating in special projects, and serving as a resource to team members. ServSafe
All ServeSafe materials will be provided by a culinary supervisor. The class will be held weekly, unless otherwise notified. ServSafe is meant to teach the individual about the safety and sanitation of the kitchen, as well as discipline, attention to detail, and accountability. It is the goal of the culinary program to have the individual obtain their ServSafe Food Handlers' certificate at minimum. The individual will have the opportunity to learn the ServSafe Managerial material and the culinary program will assist in the financial portion of the assessment.
Monthly Evaluation
Monthly evaluations are initiated by the student or it could be scheduled by a supervisor, if necessary. These evaluations will have the student demonstrate the knowledge that the individual has gained and their current progress within the program.
Attendance/Tardiness
Students are expected to call in at least 2 hours before their shift to inform of absence/tardiness. If there is an emergency, it is the responsibility of the individual to leave a voicemail or related message the day of the absence/tardiness. Three no call no shows will result in a mandatory meeting and/or subsequent termination, at the discretion of the supervisor(s).
Schedule Requests
Any and all schedule requests must be made by filling out a
schedule request form
, available in the culinary supervisor office, at least one week in advance. It will be approved or denied at the supervisor's discretion.
Participation
Participation is necessary to the growth of the individual. The culinary supervisors encourage the individual to not fear mistakes, so that we may offer modifications to improve performance. Situations will arise and, in these cases, we will offer alternatives to cope with the occurrences by setting goals to counter the occurrence. The practice of behavioral skills and situational awareness will better prepare the individual for a paid position of regular employment outside of MHCD. If the individual is not in the program to learn, better themselves, and practice mutual prosperity, the individual's participation in the culinary program will be questioned, and possibly, terminated.
Qualifications: Must be enrolled in MHCD services.

Summary:
Under direct supervision, the Historic Preservation Trainee performs various duties to support the Historic Preservation program and gain experience with the day-to-day operations of a local historic preservation program.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Conducts application completeness checks and case review.
* Supports the design review process, including taking notes, conducting design guideline analysis and creating PowerPoint presentations.
* Conducts historic research using primary and secondary sources and writes property history for Landmarks Board cases.
* Performs field work such as photographing historic structures.
* Assists with compiling statistical data for planning purposes.
* Attends meetings and trainings.
* Compiles planning best practices from across the country.
* Supports current projects, such as the 10 Year Update to the Historic Preservation Plan and the Colorado Heritage for All initiative.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
* Ability to be flexible and ask for guidance when needed.
* Ability to complete work in a timely and consistent manner.
* Ability to demonstrate strong notetaking and written skills.
* Knowledge of historic preservation practices.
* Skill and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
* Skill in utilizing Teams email/communication/meeting software.
* Valid Driver's License and ability to maintain an acceptable motor vehicle record.
* Have a maintain acceptable background information, including criminal conviction history.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
* Ability to understand architectural plans.
* Skill in interpersonal, verbal, and written communication.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
* Graduate or undergraduate level degree or current student from historic preservation, planning, landscape architecture, environmental design, architecture, history, urban design or a related field.
* Experience is not required.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
* Physical and Mental Effort: Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing or other communication capabilities that permits the employee to communicate effectively. Sufficient vision or other powers of observation that permits the employee to review, evaluate and prepare a variety of written documents and materials. Sufficient manual dexterity that permits the employee to operate computer equipment and other office equipment. Sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexes, which permits the employee to work in an office setting. Work may include extended periods of time viewing a computer video monitor and/ or operating a keyboard.
* Work Environment: The position is hybrid, with two (2) days/week required in-person in central Boulder.
* Machines and Equipment Used Frequently uses standard office equipment including personal computers and copy/fax machines.
