Service work may at times be performed at various off-site customer locations. Hale provides a state-of-the-art service truck for remote work.
Requirements:
Must have a minimum of 3 years of experience as a Trailer Mechanic.
Must have valid drivers license, with no infractions in the last 5 years.
Must have strong knowledge regarding the safe handling and operation of trailers, tractors, containers, forklifts, power jacks, power tools, trailer parts and supplies.
Must have previous experience with fabrication, suspensions, air brakes, electrical systems, hydraulics, and welding. Lift-gate experience a plus.
Must present a professional, highly motivated, positive, result-oriented, problem-solving attitude.
Must have good communication skills.
Must be able to work independently in a fast paced and dynamic environment.
Must have own hand tools; Hale will assist with moving the tools in needed.
Must adhere to all Company policies including safety policies.
Must pass a standard pre-employment testing and DOT physical.

Must be able to lift to 30 lbs. regularly in a safe manner.
Physically capable of bending, reaching, pushing, pulling and putting pedestals, carts, parts, frames, and Chassis into position for prepping and priming. Ability to climb ladders to do work on the chassis more than 4' off the ground.

Responsibilities for a Heavy Equipment Mechanic:
Perform all routine inspection and maintenance tasks (oil and filter changes, lubrication, tire, brake, etc.) on a mixed fleet of Kenworth, Peterbilt, Volvo and Sterling tractors and straight trucks per the manufacturer and SA Recycling recommendations; and within DOT regulations with little or no direct supervision.
Conduct basic to complex diagnostic testing, troubleshooting, and service and repair tasks for mechanical, fuel, brake, suspension, hydraulic, cooling, and electrical systems.
Inspect, repair or replace trailer components such as lights, brakes, seals, suspension components, hubs, etc. as needed incompliance with manufactures, SA Recycling, and DOT recommendations and regulations.
Complete and maintain all required certifications and continuing education training for the repair and operation of all diesel equipment.
Interacts with the Regional Equipment Manager and the yards General Manager to schedule routine or emergency maintenance or repairs.
Maintain complete and accurate records of all work performed.
Model safe working habits and always abide by all safety policies and procedures.
Must keep shop, working area, and service vehicles clean and organized, and present the best impression to the public.
Performs all tasks fully within SA Recycling's Safety and Environmental practices and procedures.
Qualifications for a Heavy Equipment Mechanic:
Vocational/Technical degree highly desired.
Two (2) years of diesel mechanic's service experience in a shop setting or on a military installation preferred.
Knowledge of Tier 4 engine and emissions diagnostics and repair; ASE Certification a plus.
Ability to use a variety of diagnosis equipment and programs; KDT, or Cummings INSITE,or other Diesel laptop systems preferred.
Airbrake and DOT Annual Inspector Certifications required.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical bulletins, schematics, technical manuals, drawings, and procedures.
Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record (Class B CDL a plus).
Willingness to work in varying weather conditions.

What You'll Do
In the role of Tractor Trailer Driver, your duties will include:
Receive and Follow Directions: Report to the Foreman or General Foreman to receive assignments, instructions, and directions for daily activities.

Requirements:
* High school diploma or general education degree (GED) desired.
* Must possess a vaild Commerical Driver's License

* Must be able to demonstrate the ability to safely drive the truck and operate the equipment
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
* Knowledge of the truck and its components and the basic maintenance Requirements: for safe operation
* Ability to control operations of equipment; maneuvering truck into and out of minimum clearance spaces, using mirrors to back distances of approximately 120 feet or more

Physical/Mental Demands:

* Visual Requirements: include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus due to the constant maneuvering of vehicle in tight and high traffic areas.
* Ability to regularly lift/move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift/move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift/move up to 50 pounds manually.
* Sitting is required 75% of the time due to the primary function of driving.
* Ability to work in usually loud conditions
Working Conditions:

What You Will Be Doing:
As the CRS Tractor Trailer Driver you will be responsible for delivery and pick up of rental equipment to and from the store to the customer's drop site. The CRS Tractor Trailer Driver will complete pre/post delivery inspections, document drop offs and pickups, and provide familiarization of the equipment with the customer.
Primary Responsibilities:
Safely operate CDL assigned tractor and trailer combination
Maintain safe driving record and follow all safety guidelines for operating and loading equipment including the use of proper PPE at all times.
Maintain written and electronic DOT log book to be 100% in compliance.
Take digital pictures of all equipment prior to delivery.
Safely load and unload equipment onto assigned vehicle.
Inspect all equipment for safe operation and cleanliness as final check before leaving yard for delivery.
Obtain customer signature on rental contract and damage inspection sheet at time of delivery on >80% of deliveries.
Provide familiarization overview of equipment to customer upon delivery.
Inspect equipment for customer damage and safe operation before loading from customer location. Take digital pictures of unit at customer location and additional pictures as necessary of obvious or suspected customer damage.
Demonstrate customer service in a positive manner with fellow employee and representing Yancey with the best impression possible to our external customers as well.
Additional Responsibilities:
Participate in required safety program and work in a safe manner
Complete a Driver's Safety Course
Additional duties as assigned by manager
Who We Are Looking For:
To be successful in this position you should have prior experience as an equipment delivery driver. You should be a critical thinker, able to lead by example, be comfortable with making decisions, show initiative, and a problem solver.
Education/Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Required Qualifications/Skills:
Valid CDL Class A driver's license
Ability to manage electronic log books and delivery software via electronic tablets
Capable and competent of operating and loading a variety of machines onto assigned transport vehicle
Customer service oriented with the willingness to go above and beyond expectations with a rock star attitude

Tractor Trailer Drivers are responsible for hauling trailers of waste or recyclables to a disposal site, recycling plant or customer site. This position may require driving in congested and/or confined areas. This position will be required to enter/exit the truck multiple times per day. Tractor Trailer Drivers may also be required to climb to hook/unhook trailers, move items to smooth the load, and secure tarps.
Days: Monday - Friday
Hours: 5:30 am - 7:30 pm
Responsibilities of Position:
Operates truck in a safe manner in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and company policies.
Timely and efficient pick up of trailers and deliver to designated destination.
Maintains and updates route sheets.
Conducts pre-trip/post trip inspections and complete DVIR logs.
Visually inspect proper load securement.
Maintain cleanliness of truck cab.
Maintains and updates Drivers Log sheets.
Maintains a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that promotes good relationships with customers, clients, co-workers, and management.
Other duties as assigned.
Skills & Abilities Needed for Position:
Ability to read and understand a map.
Ability to perform physical requirements of the job (prolonged physical exertions, including but not limited to sitting, reaching, pushing, pulling, climbing, and lifting).
Excellent truck driving/maneuvering skills.
Ability to work in all weather conditions.
Must be able to read and speak the English language well enough to communicate, understand, and respond to questions, directions, traffic signs, signals, and safety training.
