Performs routine and specialized moderate and high complexity laboratory tests on all types of blood and body fluid specimens under minimal supervision. Insures accurate and reliable test results by adhering to a strict quality control program. The MLT Student works with staff technologists (MT/MLT) to perform interpret and correlate clinical laboratory tests, procedures and associated tasks in all disciplines of the Clinical Laboratory, by following protocols. The student performs quality control and quality assurance procedures; performs equipment/instruments checks and maintains appropriate records. Under the direction of a staff technologist, the MLT student is expected to utilize complex problem solving skills in resolving clinical and instrument problems.
