Job purpose
We are looking for a Field Heavy Equipment Mechanic to Join our growing team and help drive our customer service goals and objectives in the Field. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Field Heavy Equipment service and support, have a commitment to Safety and desire to provide first class customer service.
Duties and responsibilities
* Ensures a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures. Maintains a clean, organized work are free from Safety issues and concerns.
* Utilizes a variety of techniques and tools to inspect, assess, diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical and hydraulic malfunctions on a variety of heavy equipment applications
* Maintains accurate reports and information on equipment and repairs to ensure accurate billing and service logs.
* Overhauls and tests machines or equipment to ensure operating efficiency
* Tests mechanical products and equipment after repair or assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturer's specifications
* Brings to the attention of the shop manager any additional work required on unit or visible signs of damage including out of service conditions and safety hazards.
* Cleans, lubricates, and performs preventative maintenance work on equipment and vehicles as required
* Keeps abreast of all changes in various models of equipment sold and serviced by the distributors to maintain and upgrade technical competencies and knowledge through in-house and external training sources.

Qualifications
* Must have a CDL B License
* High School diploma and graduation from an accredited technical school in diesel engine/hydraulics/heavy equipment repair preferred but not required.
* Experience as a Heavy Equipment Technician/Mechanic required.
* Must have own tools.
* Volvo and/or other dealership or industry experience preferred.
* Skill in the use of a variety of diagnostic testing and tuning equipment.
* Working experience with computer systems and maintenance software preferred
* Advanced technical software application understanding with relevant industry experience highly desired.
* Strong organizational and customer service skills to ensure high level customer service
* Ability to work overtime when required
* Have excellent communication skills, verbal and written

Collecting all regulatory data associated with cathodic protection including annual pipe to soil potentials, bi-monthly rectifier readings, and bond readings. This data is to be documented in the American Innovations PCS-CPDM database program.
Perform coating inspections and evaluations to ensure protective coatings are intact and effective.
Monitor and test pipeline potentials to ensure compliance with NACE, DOT, and company standards.
Troubleshoot and repair CP system failures, rectifiers, test stations, and ground beds.
Support pipeline integrity program during ILI dig projects by completing data collection of cathodic protection pipe to soil measurements, soil resistivity, and soil pH measurements at each site.
Collaborate with Integrity Engineer to understand external corrosion anomalies/issues identified through ILI tool inspections and implement preventative and mitigative measures (PMMs) applicable to external corrosion.
Internal Corrosion Prevention & Control:
Conduct internal corrosion direct assessments (ICDA) and risk evaluations.
Collect, analyze, and interpret pipeline fluid and gas samples for corrosive elements (e.g., COâ‚‚, Hâ‚‚S, bacteria, water content, chlorides).
Implement and monitor the use of corrosion inhibitors, biocides, and other chemical treatment programs.
Work with operations and engineering teams to optimize internal corrosion monitoring using coupons, probes, and other sensors.
Regulatory Compliance & Reporting:
Ensure corrosion control practices align with PHMSA, DOT 49 CFR Part 192/195, NACE, API, and company standards.
Maintain and update records of corrosion monitoring, CP systems, and inspection reports.
Prepare and submit compliance documentation, corrective action reports, and mitigation plans.

· Read Repair Order, observe and listen to vehicle in operation to determine malfunction and plan work procedures.
· Perform general and detailed repair of all trucks, engines and components.
· Overhaul gas or diesel engines.
· Install injectors, pistons, liners, cam shafts, cylinder heads, rod and main bearings, oil pans, clutches, fan hubs,differentials, fifth wheels, brakes, change or recharge batteries, and replace transmissions and other parts.
· Examine protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices on trucks, and make adjustments as needed.
· Lubricate moving parts and drive repaired vehicle to verify conformance to specifications.
· Advise the Service Supervisor if additional repair work is necessary
· Tag all warranty parts and returns to warranty clerk.
· Maintain a neat and orderly working area, and proper handling of company tools
· Follow safe work practices and procedures, uses safety equipment when required, responds to suggestions for working safely and seeks assistance when necessary.
· Attend training classes and keep abreast of factory technical bulletins

QUALIFICATIONSAND EXPERIENCE:
· High school diploma or GED is required. Combination of education, training, or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities will be considered.
· Related technical school training preferred.
· Three to five years of commercial truck technical service experience.
· Engine certifications preferred: Cummins, Detroit, International, etc.
· Necessary tools to perform job responsibilities
· Ability to work and learn independently.
· Strong written/ verbal communication skills required.
· Ability to use various windows based computer software. Experience with engine software a plus
· Valid commercial drivers license preferred.
