Full-time Staff: Network Support Technician
Technical Support Engineer Job 37 miles from North Ridgeville
General Description of Position: Perform installation of pre-configured equipment; install and test equipment. Provide technical support for applications to network operations; including initially receiving problem calls from the Help Desk either online or by telephone and troubleshooting the problem until it is resolved; then updating the problem ticket and entering the details of the problem. Requires excellent analytical and communication skills and the ability to multi-task due to simultaneous problem calls. Interactions are mostly with the system or application users.
RESPONSIBILITIES (Non-inclusive)
Answer, evaluate, and prioritize incoming issues, and requests for assistance from users experiencing technical problems. Respond to technical issues, resolve incidents, and escalate to appropriate parties as needed. Provide continuous status information to ensure customer satisfaction.
Handle initial troubleshooting on network connectivity and performance problems.
Provide initial support of copier fleet while managing features that correlate to these systems, including Equitrac, eCopy and Streem.
Provide desktop hardware and software support for networking-provided systems.
Provide and maintain inventory of equipment.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Training
Associate's degree in Information Technology, preferably with a certificate or emphasis in Networking
Three years of related work experience.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Able to learn new network and telephony administrative and diagnostic software packages and systems as they become available
Able to learn the College's network design to provide timely resolution to network problems.
Must be able to communicate clearly and maintain effective interpersonal working relationships with network engineers and end users.
Must possess good writing skills to maintain accurate documentation.
Able to work independently, occasionally working under pressure to meet deadlines.
Physical Activity Level
The position duties involve mostly standing and walking, as well as lifting 25 lbs. frequently and 50 lbs. on occasion.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
This is a full-time, non-exempt, continuing-status staff position. Compensation for this position is at 08A on the Staff Salary Schedule with a firm pay rate of $20.94/hour.
