2. Participate in a brief (3-4 days) teaching practicum local seminary.

Student teachers are hired to teach one or two seminary classes in a local seminary. Student teachers are paid for teaching time, and for preparation and administrative time. The typical student teacher assignment is a 15-20 hour per week position.
The student teacher experience can last from one semester/trimester up to a full high school academic year, and in some cases even longer. During this time, student teachers continue the training process and are assessed and evaluated throughout as they are considered for employment. Decisions about full-time employment are made by the administration of Seminaries and Institutes in Salt Lake City. Decisions about part-time employment are made by local S&I administrators and depend on current demand. There are always more student teachers than there are openings in any given year.

Schedule
Seminary instructors are expected to work the time necessary to accomplish their assigned teaching and administrative responsibilities. Full-time seminary instructors are not eligible for overtime.
Full-time Workload
Those in a trimester system should teach four of the five trimester classes each trimester. Those in the eight-period block system should teach six of the eight classes each semester. Those in a seven-period day should teach a minimum of six classes.
When possible, the student to teacher ratio should be approximately 150-180 to one. It is recommended that there be no more than thirty-five students per class.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities (include, but not limited to)
Under the supervision of the Special Education Director, this position will work collaboratively with special education and general education teachers to provide instructional support to increase student achievement for students with disabilities by providing instructional coaching and modeling. This position will collaborate with special education and general education teachers by providing direct instructional coaching, professional development, and academic instructional strategies, and assist with implementation; help develop and empower teachers to write strong IEPs and assist with implementation; provide compliance support to the special education program; regularly perform IEP file reviews and audits. This position will act as a parent liaison, supporting parents through the IEP process and addressing parent complaints, issues, and concerns. This position will also support school administration in supporting 90-day plan goals around special education.
Salary
Placed on the Licensed Teacher Salary Schedule, plus an additional 15%
Placement is determined by education level and years of experience. Experience credit will be awarded for the first ten (10) years of certified experience in an accredited school.
Hours
Full-time, 193 day contract. To begin August 2025

GENERAL FUNCTION
The classroom teacher is responsible for creating a positive learning environment where students develop the skills to become critical thinkers, problem solvers, lifelong learners, and productive citizens. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The classroom teacher is responsible to:
Follow Utah Effective Teaching Standards.
Fully participate in Professional Learning Communities.
Teach the core content area(s) outlined in the USOE's Core Curriculum, adopted by The Board of Education, and correlated with other approved learning activities.
Instruct students in citizenship.
Meet regular and predictable attendance requirements.
Develop lesson plans and instructional materials that provide differentiated instruction that meets the needs of all students, with particular emphasis on:
Improvement of instruction and learning with increased accountability for results;
The learner and best practices associated with the learning process;
New developments in subject, subject fields, and specific subject competency
Annual test data.
Translate lesson plans into learning experiences to best utilize the available time for instruction.

Position Purpose
Under the general supervision of the School Principal, to facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing specialized instruction using research based interventions and district curriculum; documenting teaching and student progress/activities/outcomes; addressing specific educational needs of individual students and by creating a flexible, safe and optimal learning environment; and providing feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations, goals, etc. Writing and implementing IEP goals and behavior intervention plans to ensure adequate progress of students with mild to moderate disabilities. This person will ensure that timelines are followed, meetings are established and held in a timely and compliant manner.
