Paid training. Flexible scheduling Monday to Thursday and Saturday.

We are open Monday through Thursday from 9 am- 8 pm and Saturdays from 9 am- 3 pm. Our busiest times are from 3-8 during the week and all day Saturday. *Being able to start at 3 pm or earlier Monday-Thursday is a plus.
Requirements include:

4-year degree required. Teaching Certification is strongly preferred but not required. All experience levels are welcome to apply –recent grads, current teachers, and retired professionals. Must be a caring and qualified professional committed to the success of students. Algebra 1 and 2, Geometry, Calculus, Chemistry, and Statistics are a plus. Must be able to teach at least 1 or more of the following subjects: Reading, Writing, Grammar, Maths, Science.

Exam Prep i.e. SAT/ACT, GED, ASVAB, SSAT experience a plus (will be required to take a current test in order to be matched up with appropriate students) COVID-19 considerations.

Do you love to teach? Remember why you became a teacher? So do we. As a part-time teacher, you will receive training to deliver Sylvan's proven, personal approach to learning. Sylvan Learning is looking for ENTHUSIASTIC, HAPPY, FLEXIBLE TEAM PLAYERS WHO LOVE WORKING WITH KIDS. We have a 3:1 ratio, personalized instruction, and we prepare your lessons. We are looking for teachers/tutors with expertise in reading, writing, math, high school math, study skills and/or SAT/ACT prep.

**Due to the extensive training and student connections created, we do not offer summer-only employment. We strongly encourage a commitment minimum of 1 year, however a commitment minimum of 6 months is required. **

Skills and Abilities Required:
• Knowledge of general office equipment such as copiers, printers, and office phones
• Knowledge of tablet computers (iPads)
• Proven ability to engage, motivate, and inspire students to learn
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and be flexible
• Strong problem solving and customer service skills
• Strong team player

Availability and Commitment Required:

  • Ability to commit to at least 2 days per week (Minimum: 4 hours/week)

Experience Required:
• Four year degree in education or an applicable subject (ex: English, Math, etc)
• State or provincial teaching credentials (current or expired)
• Minimum of one or two years of teaching/tutoring experience preferred
• Knowledge of phonics and reading comprehension required for reading teachers; Knowledge of math and problem solving strategies required for math teachers

• Knowledge of common core concepts

Compensation:

$13-$15/hour upon completion of training period
