Job Description
Work Shift: This position is seasonal. Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 3:00 pm.
Job Summary: A Teacher provides leadership for a group of campers, ensuring a quality experience for children. Teachers will supervise all activities, including field trips, arts and crafts, sports, and games. Under the direction of the Recreation Superintendent, Camp Teachers shall assist in the coordination and development of Summer Camp activities.
Physical Requirements: Must be able to stand for long periods · Lift items (up to 20lbs) · Carry items (up to 20lbs) · Must be able to communicate verbally with good voice projection
Principle Activities: Supervise activities of children and counselors. Illustrate good manners, language, promptness, appearance, and health. Illustrate respect and care for the facilities. Create and maintain group unity by making everyone feel a part of the group. Safety of campers is imperative; and campers should never be left unattended. Available to work entire camp season with little to no interruption. Attend staff meetings and trainings. Able to participate in games, sports, and physical activities. Must be able to spend majority time outdoors and tolerate a variety of weather. Able to lead camp in absence of Youth Development Coordinator. Report to the Youth Development Coordinator any difficult or unusual situations.
Other related duties not listed, but consistent with, and similar in nature to above examples may be required.
Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience working with children preferred. Must pass a background check. Current Teacher Certification through the Ohio Department of Education required.
