This is a part-time position, and is somewhat seasonal. Pay for all Areas of Business (AOB) is hourly including set-up and clean-up time. Starting pay is $22.50-$28.00 per hour DOE. If you teach 5 one-hour classes per week you will make approximately $225-$280 per week. There are some opportunities for more classes/hours in the morning hours for those with the availability.
We are currently looking for energetic individuals to join our growing team to conduct exciting science, engineering, and technology programs during after-school and morning time slots. You do NOT need to be a certified teacher (although we love that!).
Responsibilities:
Facilitating day camps, in-person workshops, and after-school science enrichment programs for children from preschool through elementary school
Deliver high-energy, part entertainment, part education, hands-on programs that meet for one hour each week for approximately 8-10 weeks.
Drive to various locations across Maine.
Enjoy teaching young children the art of science!
Attend paid training sessions virtually and/or at our office.
Attend the mandatory Friday Staff Meeting every week (paid).
Be able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
Be on time for all scheduled activities.
Adhere to strict safety and cleanliness guidelines.
Qualifications:
Must be available a minimum of two consistent weekday afternoons from 12:00 - 5:00 PM
. While this is a part-time position, it is critical that you are able to commit to the length of any given program (camp session, after-school program, etc.), and that you are able to give us steady weekly availability.
Some experience working with/ teaching groups of elementary-age (4-12) children (such as an after-school teacher or camp counselor).
Must have a personal vehicle, as you will be transporting equipment and conducting programs across our territory.
Minimum of 1 year of college suggested. Degrees and/or graduate degrees are a plus.
