    Teacher Resident Job Description The teacher intern resident (TR) is a student who participates in a paid year-long clinical experience under the guidance of a highly effective Host Teacher (HT). A resident observes and learns on the job in preparation for a teaching career while earning a degree (typically a bachelor's, but in some cases a master's) and/or certification from Baylor University for a full school year. They will work full-time, alongside the HT. TRs are actively engaged in all elements of the classroom from the very beginning of the residency year. The TR will gradually assume greater responsibilities throughout the residency year as outlined in the Intern syllabi. Compensated roles must not compromise learning goals prescribed by Baylor University for the TR. Responsibilities Paid Resident Responsibilities * On non-university-required days, the TR will be on campus and assume duties as a substitute teacher on an as-needed basis. On days required by the University, the TR can still substitute no more than one time a week, as long as the teacher's absence is planned in advance and teacher lesson plans are provided so that the TR can prepare to teach the class. * This responsibility begins at the end of the first third of the semester and after their first formal observation with feedback has been completed. * See Resident Substitute Parameters Guidelines.
