We are looking for experienced educators who have a passion for teaching! For over 21 years, the Pasadena Educational Foundation's Summer Enrichment Program has mixed academic subjects with hands-on exploration to help prepare students for the upcoming school year.
Our 5-week morning program has 2 formats.
Younger students (TK - 2nd grade) will spend the entire morning program in one self-contained/intro classroom.
Older students (grades 2 and up) typically split their morning schedule into 3 blocks. Each block is a little over an hour long and has a different group of students. Most teachers teach the same class in each block.
This year, our program is for students in grades TK-8. We will no longer offer courses designed for high school students.

POSITION PURPOSE: Polytechnic School is looking for an experienced and dynamic 6th-grade math teacher who, above all, loves working with Middle School students and values and affirms the unique contributions of each child in the school community. Poly's 6th-grade math is a fast-paced and rigorous pre-algebra course. Students develop conceptual understanding, mathematical fluency, and good habits of study in preparation for 7th-grade mathematics study. How You Will Make an Impact
The Teacher Position will plan, organize and implement an appropriate personalized instructional program in a learning environment that guides, supports, and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential, completion of diploma requirements and post-secondary transition plan. This Position will collaborate with other Instructional Staff and school personnel.

Develop, review and regularly update personalized academic plans based on students transcripts, assessment data, career pathway planning (CTE), post-secondary goals, and progress towards those goals

Meet with students at their scheduled appointment dates and times

Refer students to core subject area teachers when necessary

Update all necessary records accurately and timely as required by law, Organizational policies, school regulations, and independent auditors

Qualifications

Position Summary
Temporary, Non-Exempt, Full Time, Benefited position through 6/30/2025 (Appointment may be renewed annually based upon availability of funds, availability of work and satisfactory job performance).
Salary: $3,466-$4,333 per month.
Location: CSUSB Campus.
Work Schedule
40 hours per week. Monday-Friday from 9:30AM to 6:00PM. Some nights, weekend work may be required.

Typical Activities
Under minimal supervision of the Children's Center Director, the Master Teacher will work independently to:
Responsibilities: • Provide a safe, secure, and nurturing environment for children enrolled in our program. • Prepare and implement daily activities tailored to the individual needs of each child and be willing to adjust the curriculum as necessary. • Be a DAP role model of effective teacher-child interaction in the implementation of the daily operation of the program. • Able to articulate program goals and philosophy and apply them to working with the children and other adults working in the program. • Manage children's behavior using positive guidance techniques and limit setting. • Plan for and facilitate smooth transitions for the children. • Ensure that all children are treated with dignity and respect. • Communicate effectively and professionally with colleagues and supervisors. • Work with other staff members to form a positive, supportive team atmosphere. • Communicate consistently with the Director regarding the functioning of the classroom (progress, problems, and concerns). • Establish positive and productive relationships and communicate effectively with families (approachable, tactful, keeps parents informed, seeks a partnership with parents, work with parents to promote understanding of their child's growth and development). • Maintain confidentiality of children and families. Duties: • Monitor the daily schedule in the classroom. • Monitor break/lunch times for staff. • Monitor and support diaper changes and toilet learning for each child • Ensure that teacher: child ratios are maintained at all times. • Ensure that health checks are being carried out when each child is dropped off. • Maintain classroom bulletin boards that provide current parent information and represent children's interests and learning. • Participate in and conduct on-going staff development trainings and meetings. • Supervise and train Assistant Teachers by providing guidance and direction. Includes training in routines such as mealtimes, nap, diapering, and clean-up procedures. • Supervise and train undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, and others in daily activities of the lab school, including student observations, research, student interns, etc. • Provide evaluative input to the Director regarding staff members' performance. • Ensure developmentally appropriate activities are planned and implemented by staff daily. • Maintain child assessments and developmental evaluations (DRDP's). • Maintain and regularly update NAEYC classroom portfolios. • Participate in parent orientation and new staff orientation at the beginning of each quarter. • Conduct parent-teacher conferences. • Follow State health and safety guidelines, maintain records according to State guidelines, and ensure that all teachers are doing the same. • Assist in monitoring the Center according to licensing regulations. • Attend conferences and training to progress in professional growth. • Follow procedures related to the health and safety (including general hygiene of young children, e.g., diaper changing and toileting). • Cleaning responsibilities: maintenance of order and neatness in kitchen, storage room, observation room, and all classroom and outdoor areas. • Report any suspected case of child abuse or neglect to CPS.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
B.A. in Child Development or related field
Experience:
At least one year of experience teaching in an early childhood education program (preferably, a NAEYC accredited program).
Possess a Child Development Permit: Master Teacher or higher.
Must have Pediatric CPR and First Aid certification, as well as fingerprinting clearance prior to employment.
Other:
Extensive knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices in early childhood.
Knowledge of child development concepts and skilled at putting them into practice.
Ability to effectively lead by example and to help others to accomplish tasks through direction.
Warm and sensitive toward the children.
Effective organizational and planning skills.
