The Part-Time Upper School MYP Mandarin Teacher implements and delivers curriculum based on the IB philosophy and helps direct students' activities to reach his or her fullest potential in the specified academic areas as well as the community as a whole. In Language Acquisition, the position of Upper School MYP Mandarin teacher entails using the target language in class, including through authentic and instructional materials that incorporate culture, and facilitating students' contributions in the target language through reading, writing, speaking, and listening activities. JOB SCOPE The Upper School MYP Mandarin Teacher adheres to the guidelines of the IB and his or her department about choosing and implementing curricula at appropriate levels for program and student development. Within the overarching structure of these guidelines, the teacher retains autonomy in the classroom in terms of how lessons are designed, implemented, and evaluated. In Language Acquisition, the Upper School MYP Mandarin teacher communicates with his or her colleagues to ensure appropriate alignment of assignments and concepts to meet program goals. In addition, the Upper School MYP Mandarin teacher supports and contributes to initiatives in the larger Upper School community, including by finding opportunities to share language and culture with the whole school.
