Staff within these programs are charged with nurturing and stimulating the social emotional language cognitive and physical development of each child. Center-based Early Care and Education programs are open year round from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m Monday though Friday. Responsibilities The Family Literacy Teacher provides educational services for young children ages 0-5 years working under the direction of the Family Literacy Coordinator. Major duties include planning and preparing daily classroom activities; direct instructional services; maintenance of classroom materials and equipment; and daily record keeping. Qualifications A minimum of 2 years of early childhood classroom experience. CPR and First Aid A minimum of 24 units of coursework in child development including at least 3 units in infant/toddler development. AA or BA in child development preferred; Child Development Associate Teacher or Teacher Permit preferred Ability to function as a member of an interdisciplinary team. Interpersonal skills to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with individuals from a variety of socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds and at various organizational levels. Skill in working independently and in following through on assigned projects in an independent and responsive manner under minimal supervision. Experience in providing center-based child development services to low-income families and families from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds. Knowledge of normal infant toddler and pre-school development and early childhood education/child care practices. Ability to promote emerging communication and early language and literacy skills as well as school readiness skills Knowledge of child abuse and family violence reporting laws. Knowledge of Creative Curriculum Ability to write concise logical and grammatically correct reports. Skill in organizing and maintaining accurate records and documentation. COMPENSATION: Brentwood School's diverse and talented faculty ranges widely in experience level, from those new to teaching to veterans who are experts in their respective disciplines with 30+ years of experience. Our salary range, of $72,000 to $120,000, includes all levels of experience. Salaries are determined based on years of experience, education, full- or part-time status, and number of months worked per school year.
