Working Conditions
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: The Teacher, State Hospitals (Adult Education) used by the Department of Developmental Services, Porterville Developmental Center (PDC) is responsible for maintaining order and supervising the conduct of students; maintaining the safety of persons and property; and delivering classroom instruction to ensure the achievement of adult students using evidence-based practices and recognized instructional strategies to create a learning environment for students to achieve their learning goals. The Teacher, State Hospitals (Adult Education) incorporates activities and instruction designed to build appropriate social emotional skills; and support the students as they develop academic proficiency. Potential exposure to communicable diseases, blood-borne pathogens, and other conditions common to a clinical nursing environment. Ensures the safety of public, staff, and forensic clients, which may include, but not limited to: escorting forensic clients in the facility; distributing and accounting for all training equipment and supplies to prevent their use as weapons; inspecting facilities to identify security breaches that could lead to the escape of a forensic client; and observing and intervening in forensic client behaviors that may injure people, damage property, or signal impending escape attempts. Required to maintain personal safety by wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and ensuring that the PPE is in good, working condition.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must possess and maintain sufficient strength, agility, endurance, and sensory ability to perform the duties contained within the duty statement. The Elementary teacher's role will be to create a supportive learning environment in which you will help your students meet their learning goals through CCSS. Through interesting and diverse methods, you'll teach them the important aspects of the content while using a real-world lens, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. You'll oversee their progress by tracking their assignment and exams to provide useful feedback. Job Summary: Grow Public School teachers develop joyful classroom environments that establish high expectations for student growth and achievement and attend to the health and wellness needs for each individual student. Intellectual Prep
Implement and execute the adopted Grow Public Schools Units of Study and high-quality instructional materials.

Differentiate lesson plans for a variety of learners (English Language Learners and/or students with IEPs, etc.)
Participate fully in weekly instructional coaching activities (including analysis of student learning, intellectual prep, observation debrief, etc.) and execute on next steps from the weekly coaching meeting.
Deliver engaging learning opportunities including integrating ESY curriculum and project based learning framework.
Organizational Culture
Develop a classroom learning environment that reflects the school's core values and school wide expectations in order to emphasize on a college-going culture.
Co-Planning & Co-Teaching
Collaborate with education specialists, learning lab staff, and Small Group Instructors (SGIs) to implement students' Individualized Learning Plans (ILPs), and integrate online learning platforms based on student need.
Academic Record Keeping
Assess student progress and maintain accurate standards-based grading records, utilizing various student information management systems and technology platforms.
Maintain frequent communication with scholars, scholars' families, colleagues, and school leaders (both in-person and virtually).
