Physical Requirements:

Job Description
This position is responsible for providing instruction designed to provide academic, social, physical, and skills development for students in specific grades/subject areas to prepare them to be successful citizens in college and career.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Implements the Science of Reading in all instruction
Participates in professional development as directed, including but not limited to adult learning around the Science of Reading
Progress monitor students' growth (academic/social/behavior) and report monitoring data
Reports to work as scheduled on a regular and reliable basis.
Teaches District approved curriculum daily.
Develops lesson plans and instructional material and provides individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil daily.
Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
Translates lesson plans into developmentally appropriate learning experiences daily.
Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals daily.
Establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, etc, and communicates these objectives to students.
Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities daily.
Assists students in establishing and maintaining standards of behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere daily.
Evaluates students' academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records and prepares progress reports as appropriate and required.
Works as a team member on building level committee and collegial activities within the building and District.
Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulations.
Administers and develops subject specific assessments for the purpose of assessing student competency levels.
Instructs students for the purpose of improving their success in academics through a defined course of study.
Reports incidents (e.g. fights, suspected child abuse, suspected substance abuse, harassment, bullying,zero tolerance offenses etc.) for the purpose of maintaining personal safety of students.
Responds to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns and /or directing to appropriate personnel for resolution.
Other duties as assigned.
