Reporting to the Director of the Diane Lindner-Goldberg Child Care Institute, the Assistant Teacher supports the lead teacher in carrying out classroom responsibilities.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Provides a warm, nurturing classroom environment for children.
* Provides a welcoming environment for parents and families.
* Follows the procedure and schedule set forth by the staff in the classroom.
* Assists in the execution of planned activities and overall classroom management.
* Carries out the mission set forth by the Diane Lindner-Goldberg Child Care Institute and Hofstra University.
* Fulfills the role of the classroom teacher in his/her absence.
* Demonstrates understanding and respect for children, their developmental needs and interests; respect for a child's family and culture; and commitment of continued professional development.
* Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
* Associate's degree required.
* 0-1 years of related experience working with young children in a childcare setting.
* Understands and respects children and their developmental needs and interests.

Preferred Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or Elementary Education with an Early Childhood Education component/specialization preferred.
