Position Focus: A Think Tank instructor services the qualifying students within the program which includes designing high-level units of interest incorporating STEM, coordinating with each teacher involved, developing each domain within units, training high-level thinkers to work cooperatively, communicating with parents, attending parent meetings, and coordinating with the Program Director.
Position Parameters
Provides spiritual and professional leadership to the students, parents and staff
Role-models Christian behavior and spiritual growth
Participates in book studies developed by the Program Coordinator
Integrates Biblical truth strands within weekly sessions
Provides instruction and analyzes/evaluates development of individual students
Develops unique, high-level units based on ACTS: Analytical thinking, Cooperative learning, Technology, and Strategic thinking
Incorporates active learning techniques including, but not limited to, Harkness Discussions, 4 Corner Debates, Kagan Cooperative Learning Techniques, and Thinking Maps
Includes Project-Based Learning for each grade level
Trains students to go to deeper levels of thinking, instilling a growth mindset
Assesses individual progress using rubrics allowing room for student goal setting
Establishes and arranges field trips that will enhance the unit of study
Communicates regularly with parents of each student including a semesterly report using the evaluation form provided and completed rubrics
Maintains good communications and public relations with parents so as to ensure a strong home/school relationship including providing pictures regularly to showcase the activities within the sessions
Keeps abreast of current trends in technology, incorporating these in sessions
Attends faculty meetings and professional development required of teachers

Tank Barge PIC prepare barges for the loading and discharging of cargoes, and perform all loading and discharging activities. They build tow by handling lines and cables to tie and untie barges and boats. Tank Barge PIC connect and disconnect transfer hoses. They perform scheduled vessel maintenance care for tools and equipment, and perform general housekeeping duties as assigned by their supervisor. They adhere to company safety policies and procedures and governmental regulations. They work under the supervision of the Captain/Master.
Responsibilities
Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
* Adhere to Company safety policies and procedures.
* Perform scheduled vessel maintenance. Perform general housekeeping duties on vessel and barge.
* Adhere to Government regulations and environmental rules.
* Build tow by handling lines and cables to tie and untie barges and boats.

EXPERIENCE

EDUCATION
* High School or GED required
WORK CONDITIONS
* Must be able live and work in close quarters and able to spend a length of time away from family.
* Work schedule and hours determined by boat. Typical work schedule is a 2 for 1 schedule up to 30 days, with a 12 hour work shift including holidays.
* Must be able to work in inclement weather outdoor, heat and cold.
* Must be willing and able to attend paid required training on and off scheduled work time.
* Must have reliable transportation and be able to travel to/from company defined hub cities.

Responsible for performing preventative maintenance, special inspections and general repairs on tractor and trailer units in accordance with DOT, federal and state regulations and Company standards.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Diagnose and repair tractors and trailers.
Perform annual/systematic 90-day inspection in order to ensure equipment meets federal FHWA standards.
Perform the following on cargo tanks: internal, external, and upper coupler inspections, heat system, leakage, vacuum, pressure tests and vapor tightness test (EPA Method 27).
Determine the overall mechanical condition of tractors, trailers and associated equipment, diagnoses component malfunctions and initiates repair actions.
Repair components by replacing worn or damaged parts with new or reconditioned parts.
Correct vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems, such as, brakes, hubs, bearings, seals, electrical, air conditioning, fuel, steering, hydraulics; control linkages, clutches, and traction units.
Use technical publications or automated systems in maintaining vehicles to prescribed manufacturers' maintenance schedules and for researching parts.
Properly annotate all maintenance and labor performed in maintenance management software.
Operate a yard hostler truck to move trailers within the facility yard and the shop as needed.
Communicate the need to order and receive parts and supplies as needed.
Adhere to all established safety (OSHA) and environmental policies and standards to include identification, use, and proper procedures for handling or disposal of hazardous wastes.
Clean, organize, and maintain the work environment to ensure equipment longevity and workplace safety.
Perform welding repairs as needed.
Perform additional duties as assigned.

· Assurance that all flag state, international, local and classification society rules and regulations are adhered to;
· Assignment of roles to supervisors and crew with respect to the company's MS, including designating the vessel's safety officer, security officer, and medical officer.
· Identification of conflict between safety and security. The Master shall give priority to those requirements necessary to maintain the safety of the vessel;
· Maintenance of effective communications and working relationships among the vessel's staff, the Owner's and all others having a proper interest in the business;
· Assurance that GMDSS requirements are maintained;
· The conduct of reviews of the Company's Management System and the reporting of all related deficiencies and improvements to the HSQE Department;
· Maintenance onboard the vessel all records required by international
conventions and treaties including SOLAS, the ISM Code, and MARPOL and
applicable State and Federal statutes and regulations and any additional
documents or records required under the Company's MS.
· Assurance that every crewmember has received the familiarization and training necessary to ensure compliance with the Company's SMS and other maritime pollution prevention requirements and that the proper records of all training are maintained;

The Primary function of a Licensed Barge PIC is to prepare the barges that are assigned and complete loading and discharging of oil, refined and petrochemical cargoes. Must communicate with dock personnel and ensure that each person participating in the transfer of product understands what the product is, and how it should be transferred and protected. This position normally works a rotating 6 days on, and 3 days off schedule.
Responsibilities
Walk 2-3 miles per day.
* A Kirby Corporation vessel generally has a tow that is 500 ft. in length. May be required to walk the tow and back in order to check the condition of the barges and the rigging to perform tankering operations.
Step - 2ft vertical and 2ft horizontal.
* In the process of loading or discharging two barges breasted up through a crossover hose, occasions arise where slack in one or more lines causes the barges. In addition, if one barge is loading or discharging at a faster rate than the other, a vertical height differential may develop between the decks of the adjoining barges. Also, different docks, owned by individuals other than Kirby Corporation have various combinations of the barge drafts and river stages. This makes it necessary to step across, up, down, or over an obstacle in order to gain access to the dock from the barge to the boat or from the boat to the dock.
Reach:
* Must be able to extend arms fully, throughout a normal range of motion both in a horizontal and vertical plane. May be required to throw and catch lines. Complete range of motion is also required to perform engine room maintenance responsibilities, which includes reaching over one's head.
Climb:
* Must be able to climb a 90-degree vertical ladder 25-30 ft. Different docks have various means in which to gain access to the barges that are docked at their facilities. This is especially true when the river is at a low stage.
Lift 60-75 pounds and carry it approximately 500 ft.
* A barge ratchet weighs approximately 60 pounds. If the lead coupling on a tow was to break, may be required to carry a ratchet the length of the barges in order to repair the coupling. In addition, may need to help move a crossover hose that would require a lift of at least 60-75 pounds.
Vision:
* Color vision and eyesight sufficient to pass an eye test as required to obtain a merchant mariners document. This requires an uncorrected vision of at least 20/20 in each eye correctable to 20/40 in each eye.
Hearing:
* Hearing as required to obtain a merchant mariners document.
Speech:
* Must be able to verbally communicate in the English language both in delivery and ability to be understood. May docks use handheld radios to communicate with the barges and/or boats; therefore, use of these devices is required.

· The assessment of all work-related risks and the issuance of relevant permits to work;

The Primary function of a Tank Barge PIC is to prepare the barges that are assigned and complete loading and discharging of oil, refined and petrochemical cargoes. The Tank Barge PIC must communicate with dock personnel and ensure that each person participating in the transfer of product understands what the product is, and how it should be transferred and protected. The Tank Barge PIC normally works a rotating 6 days on, and 3 days off schedule.
Responsibilities
Walk 2-3 miles per day.
A Kirby Corporation vessel generally has a tow that is 500 ft. in length. A Tank Barge PIC may be required to walk the tow and back in order to check the condition of the barges and the rigging to perform tankering operations.
Step - 2ft vertical and 2ft horizontal.
In the process of loading or discharging two barges breasted up through a crossover hose, occasions arise where slack in one or more lines causes the barges. In addition, if one barge is loading or discharging at a faster rate than the other, a vertical height differential may develop between the decks of the adjoining barges. Also, different docks, owned by individuals other than Kirby Corporation have various combinations of the barge drafts and river stages. This makes it necessary to step across, up, down, or over an obstacle in order to gain access to the dock from the barge to the boat or from the boat to the dock.
Reach:
Must be able to extend arms fully, throughout a normal range of motion both in a horizontal and vertical plane. A Tank Barge PIC may be required to throw and catch lines. Complete range of motion is also required to perform engine room maintenance responsibilities, which includes reaching over one's head.
Climb:
Must be able to climb a 90-degree vertical ladder 25-30 ft. Different docks have various means in which to gain access to the barges that are docked at their facilities. This is especially true when the river is at a low stage.
Lift 60-75 pounds and carry it approximately 500 ft.
A barge ratchet weighs approximately 60 pounds. If the lead coupling on a tow was to break, a Tank Barge PIC may be required to carry a ratchet the length of the barges in order to repair the coupling. In addition, a Tank Barge PIC may need to help move a crossover hose that would require a lift of at least 60-75 pounds.
Vision:
Color vision and eyesight sufficient to pass an eye test as required to obtain a merchant mariners document. This requires an uncorrected vision of at least 20/20 in each eye correctable to 20/40 in each eye.
Hearing:
Hearing as required to obtain a merchant mariners document.
Speech:
Must be able to verbally communicate in the English language both in delivery and ability to be understood. May docks use handheld radios to communicate with the barges and/or boats; therefore, use of these devices is required.
Reading/Writing:
Must be able to communicate by reading and writing in the English language.
Smell:
A sense of smell sufficient to be able to detect the presence of potentially dangerous chemical vapors.
Pulmonary Function:
Must pass a pulmonary function test with a minimum score of 80% with physician's approval.
Physical Condition and Ability to Wear:
Gloves, goggles, rubber boots, slicker suit, steel-toes boots, hard hat, five-minute escape pack, negative pressure respirator or positive pressure respirator.
General:
Must be able to drive to and from hub cities. Must be able to endure harsh environment, which includes extreme temperature, rain, ice, sleet, wind wave action and long hours during transfers. Ability to use firefighting/spill containment equipment communicates with dock personnel, maintain documentation, and assist in training new personnel. Maintenance functions - ability to assist with engine and generator room maintenance. Ability to qualify for all federal and state standards and qualify for licenses and documents. Ability to perform all duties while wearing protective equipment.

Living and working in close quarters. Length of time away from family. Ability to communicate in English - teach, use radio, and coordinate with dock personnel.
