POSITION OVERVIEW
Under general oversight and direction, the Caring Kitchen Lead Chef will play a pivotal role in executing NCO Caring Kitchen Project's food as medicine initiatives, specifically catering to clients diagnosed with cancer or other critical health issues. This role combines culinary expertise, volunteer management, and compassionate care for the nutritional needs of clients. The individual in this role will be responsible for all culinary operations, menu planning, food preparation, and mentorship of volunteers involved in food prep, ensuring that the meals provided align with the organization's mission and dietary requirements of the clients served.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Create balanced and appealing menus that cater to various dietary restrictions, nutritional guidelines, and cultural preferences.
Consult with dieticians as necessary.
Develop and update recipes weekly utilizing the seasonal ingredients available. Modify recipes to address client diet requirements.
Supervise kitchen staff and lead volunteers in food preparation, portion control, and adherence to hygiene and safety standards while ensuring high quality standards in taste, presentation, and nutritional value.
Order, purchase and transport groceries and supplies, as needed. Prioritize purchasing and soliciting donations from local suppliers and farmers/gardeners to source fresh, seasonal, and organic ingredients.
Maintain an accurate, up-to-date food and kitchen supply inventory; ensures all food, supplies and equipment are labeled to foster ease of access by kitchen staff and volunteers. Maintain kitchen equipment in good working order and schedule any required maintenance.
Ensure the preparation schedule is followed to ensure meals are ready for packaging and delivery in a timely manner.
Complete required data entry, forms, and reports in a timely manner.
Wash and store dishes; perform scheduled daily, weekly and monthly cleaning duties in the kitchen.

GENERAL PURPOSE:
The Area Supervisor is a member of the Store Leadership who is responsible for a specific, assigned area of the Store as well as the general operations and supervision of the Store when functioning as the Manager on Duty. * Washes and sanitizes dishes and utensils by hand or using dishwasher.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience - 6 consecutive months JIB experience and 100% certified in all workstations for internal promotes, or 1 year supervisory experience in a restaurant or retail customer service environment.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities - Must be at least 18 years old; must complete Team Leader training classes; and in certain states, must be ServSafe certified. Requires ability to speak, read, and write effectively in English; and may require ability to speak another language to guests based on location of restaurant. Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to perform and understand basic math concepts (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division); ability to work well with diverse groups of people; proven analytical skills; and good organization and planning skills. Is a self-starter who takes initiative and willingly accepts responsibility. Basic knowledge of personal computers and related software applications. Demonstrates integrity and ethical behavior.
